Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

This will be the first holiday season with both my parents gone. I don't know what will happen. We've always had large family gatheriings. Will we splinter into smaller ones or what? I just found out I'm losing my sons for Thanksgiving, I suggested they have their dinner early, and join us for dessert. I could also invite their father to join us for dinner.

I feel a lot like this is something we need to talk about in person. It's something with which I've got too much experience to talk about, atm

Here's Latte at 2 weeks. She's 1/2 SF and 1/2 not-a-clue. She hatched out of a cream egg. Any new thoughts on pullet vs. roo?

I'm pretty much assuming Cocoa and Roca are roos.

Blackie's an EE, and will take longer to figure out. If Latte is possibly a pullet, I'd love to know, so I can plan to add at least one to my little flock.
I really don't want to jinx it but it looks to me like it might me a lil Cockerel. The only reason I say this is because I have a little one who I am 99.99999% sure is a boy, mine is a mutt out of my flock but all the signs are there and oddly enough some of my mix mutt chicks look A LOT like yours and Jenns chicks do.
But the reason I think yours may be a boy is because of what looks to be a redish/brown coloring on the back right under your thumb. I hope I am wrong and this is a lil pullet but just wanted to give my thoughts.

I am getting some hatching eggs from my father-in-law, his hens are Ameraucanas and is rooster is Rhode Island Red. Does anyone here have have experience with this mix?

Here are my chicks that I think look like some of ya'lls....
These first 2 are of the one that I am sure is a cockerel.

See the chick in the upper right of the pic, she has no red /brown in her feathers.

In this pic, the chick second from the left is the one I think looks like Jenns SF chick....

But again these are all just cute little mutts. Are you ready for newly hatched cuteness?????

So far there are 15 chicks hatched and dry, one still in the incubator drying off, and 6 more pips so far!

They're all so sweet! I'm glad everything is going so well!

Hi all! Hope everyone is having a great start to their week.... I, on the other-hand, feel like this:

My carpenters are popping my coop-bubble!! All my re-fab materials need to be flattened, the plastic sheeting I am planning on using were warped from leaning against each other in the sun this summer... apparently I need to be patient as they re-form....

They just don't get the URGENCY of the need for chickens, lol! I have a friend over in Steilicoom that has some eggs in the brooder, they are gonna be here sooner than later! I am so jealous of a few of y'all and your cute lil' chicks! They are adorable!

FM -- these are mutts? If so, I think I'd have a real hard time using color to sex them at this age.

Are they a product of hatchery birds? If so, you might be able to feather sex them. Many hatcheries have selectively bread so that females feather out faster than males. In my experience this has been most noticeable in the tail feathers.
