Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hi Chickie Lady and everyone else,

I have 4 hens and have had them for 3 weeks (except thinking the black Ameraucana may be a rooster by the size of her tail, I sure hope not though). She has a very small comb and no wattle. They are all between 3-4 months old with the black on being the oldest by 3 weeks. I Love them so far but I find I am not getting the indoor chores done so I can be with them out in the yard. 1 Barred rock, 1 Rhode Island red and 2 Ameraucanas. I just started posting to this site yesterday although have been a member for just over a month go to my original welcome page if you are interested in my story. I have never had chickens before but have had many tropical birds including a Scarlett Macaw who is very curious about the new flock out in the yard that she watches from the window and porch. I won't let them get together though and even wear different shoes when I' m outside in their coop/run area.

Welcome again anyways !

This is what we have. It has stopped completely since we got them. You need to replace them every few months, but its better than having to collect dead chickadees every day :'(
We had tried everything, but only this worked!

Awesome Ty! We have HUGE picture windows and a sliding glass door with windows that take up the whole wall. The cats don't mind the suicidal birds but I do!

That is exactly what we have facing SE and they would just hit it all day long! Just remember to place them on the OUTside of the window; they aren't for indoors. Some ppl say you have to cover your whole window with them, but we only put up 2-3 per large picture window and it works just fine. You can barely see them on the glass anyway. Hope it helps! :)

Totally random but does anyone have an issue with wild birds flying into windows?!? I keep my curtains closed but they still try to go through my window! I swear they are going to break it. It happens a few times a day....

Edited to add they are mostly swallows that are in need of special birdie helmets

My parents have at least one wild bird fly into there back sliding patio door every other year and die. No cracks, or marks after the 20+ years they have lived there.

Our cat kills more birds and other rodents more then birds hit windows where we live : ) Gotta love presents on the patio!

We get starlings that come down the chimney. Well had for the last several years. I think Athena as eaten all the ones that would stick around the property now (good dog!). Haven't had many birds fly into the windows.

I'm available any day except Monday. And I don't get home from work until ~3:30pm on weekdays so a weekday one would be hard for me to get to. Weekends I can make though.

<--- I love this emote....

They're here, they're here!!! I picked up my four new pullets this morning! They are settling in quite nicely into their quarantine coop and run. My big girls were talking a whole lot when I brought them into the yard.

Pictures coming tomorrow.
