Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Nope, we're a family of procrastinators! We were running around Walmart, Top Foods, and Safeway last night, trying to find a turkey that wasn't frozen solid. My father decided it was a fantastic idea to wait until the 21st to buy a turkey.

But that is a very smart idea. We always have a hard time with the oven situation, even with double ovens.

We Procrastinate So Long..... dinner isn't served until SATURDAY!!! Really!

Several years ago we moved Thanksgiving to Saturday. Solved lots of problems for our whole family. Not the least of which is the which-house-do-the-kids-go-to-this-year. They come to our house every year... no competition with the other parents, grandparents, and BFFs.

Any one else cook their turkey the day before Thanksgiving? Mine is done and meat is off the carcass. We just reheat it in the oven for 30min before we eat. Makes it so we have the oven for other things. Also we are not waiting for the bird to get done. I let it cool for a couple of hours and the meat just falls off the bones. Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

I also cooked my turkey last night. Made the stuffing and turkey neck soup last night also. I'm sort of lazy Tgiving morning so don't look forward to working with a cold turkey first thing. Today I don't have to.
Today I'm making my red cabbage, scalloped corn, yams and a blueberry crisp made from some of the extra berries I froze this summer. I can then snack any time I want!
