I got a huge load of chips for my run delivered by chip drop! I signed up months ago, so be aware it can take a long time

Also, Hawkeye laid her first egg today! My first green egg! I saw her crowding a Wyandotte in a nest box so I suspected she was about to lay. Two good-size pullets in one 12x13 nest box was pretty hilarious.

In lieu of chipdrop you can also call up local tree companies directly and ask them if they have a load of chips they need to dispose of. Lots of trucks in my area driving around with "Free chips!" right under their phone number.

Well caught the little bugger again and looked under for pinfeathers. 12.5 weeks old. 100% boy.

Male orange saddle feathers coming in. More black on body as well.

Red wingbows starting to come in.

I really wish they would quit wetting their crests. Even the rooster in this pen started doing it.

It took a long time, but I’ve heard if you tip them it works quicker. I’ll definitely sign up again because with our place we’ll need lots.

Hawkeye is an Easter egger. They’re such good little chickens!

Mine love wetting their tops then they bury the water in shavings so they do not get open water but bathing I will wety the top for them
