I got up at 3am, I went ahead and stayed up, got both wood stoves going and the coffees brewing now. When I went out on the back porch to dump the ash pan in the ash can, a quite hiss/ like beads was falling, ice rain.
So it’s supposed warm up.

chickens did well over night again. I went out at 5:15 after I fed the dogs and I got their water jug. I rinsed it out and put 2gal of warm water in with electrolytes and scooped the nights poop up. I left the door shut until it’s light and a bit warmer, I don’t want them getting wet and the water freeze on them.

I pray folks stay home and off the roads. Even the best drivers can end upside down with ice and they put all emergency responders in an unsafe driving when there is an accident.

Morning woke at 8:30 ice everywhere watched morning news all roads here closed.
Everything is covered in ice better half opened the birds, no one wants out..
No surprise there. Be safe all stay home please.

Dogs and cats have been sliding on the grass here. I'm not stepping out yet.

We are hunkered down pretty nice here. I have cleats just have to walk gentle and slow.
Gosh have the cleats forever actually get to use them maybe a couple days.

No cleats here so I just didn't go out. DH took care of the chickens and outdoor critters for me. He is pretty stable. I know I would end up on my tea kettle out there!

Skipped walking the dogs today (thankfully my crew of 3 are more potatoes than anything else) and I think the dogs are grateful, as they're clinging to the brittle ice surface with each step when we let them out to do their business.

Skipped fermented feed for chickens as well. Cleaning up after the chickens was something because the entire run floor was basically a giant sheet of ice.

Hubby REALLY wanted to go get pancakes today and I told him flat out, if he wanted them, he had to go alone, because someone will need to call the tow truck when he inevitably got himself stuck in a ditch somewhere. So he agreed to skip the pancakes, but has been crying about it ever since.

Funny went to the coop in yak trax walked no hurry big walking sticks did fine.

I was at -18 this morning, they are still laying eggs and I got a new one. I know the white is just bloom, but it is pretty.
