Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

We had waffles for lunch. I hate cooking so it was a compromise as the waffle iron is just a wipe clean. If he wanted coffee, we have the coffee sticks he takes to work.

The water in the silkie pens only had a very light skim of ice today. It was melted long before I checked when temp was up to 33°. It stays pretty warm in the silkie pens with the tarped roof and tarped sides. The large fowl water still had a little thin ice but you could see they had broken it up. It's right inside their door so it gets colder than the silkies.

And you didn't just make him pancakes because....????
1) I rarely eat pancakes
2) I actually have never made regular pancakes before
3) Breakfast (or specifically brunch) is something we go out for on weekends and holidays, we otherwise only eat lunch and dinner
4) We have no eggs :(

Skipped walking the dogs today (thankfully my crew of 3 are more potatoes than anything else) and I think the dogs are grateful, as they're clinging to the brittle ice surface with each step when we let them out to do their business.

Skipped fermented feed for chickens as well. Cleaning up after the chickens was something because the entire run floor was basically a giant sheet of ice.

Hubby REALLY wanted to go get pancakes today and I told him flat out, if he wanted them, he had to go alone, because someone will need to call the tow truck when he inevitably got himself stuck in a ditch somewhere. So he agreed to skip the pancakes, but has been crying about it ever since. :hmm
I would’ve just handed him a whisk and a spatula then told him to knock himself out and tell me when they were ready.

Ice skating, anyone? This afternoon I wanted to go check the mail, but after attempting the driveway thought better and did not. Every now and then ice /snow is sliding off the solar panels, and makes quite a noise. Roads are now ok this afternoon when the guys went and did their last minute shopping. I've been baking and prepping food for tomorrow Eve dinner. Cheesecake, pies, bread, cookies, potatoes, green bean casserole. Chickens survived the cold..Hopefully the yard will be free of ice so I can go fill their water and check food tomorrow.

I didn't check for mail either, as the mailbox is about 1/3rd mi from the house. Lots of ice chunks sliding off the roof right now. Got my pie done for tomorrow night, so don't anticipate any problems *crosses fingers*

I can understand no mail.. total ice out lots of steep hill roads were shut down, so if you live out here there was really no getting into town with Anderson hill & Newberry closed,, hahaha not that I wanted or needed to go to town. but on the upside...... it looks like bad winter is over, :gig
