Not fun huh birds can be nice to have I give dry oatmeal see a wet poop lay a bag out they go after it.
I am so surprised the old air conditioner is still going.
it has been on non stop they say we may see 100.

Yeah, I feel like I need to wash my hands a third time after cleaning away the crap. So dry oatmeal makes their poop solid?

Yes it does work here. This is weird time with climate change these high heats I am worried about my birds.
My banty are about 3, I just finished my coffee.

My weather station says its currently 102° out. Was 50° last night.

I have not been letting the silkies into the courtyard until evening when it begins to cool. The greenhouse tarps on the west snd south sides do keep it cooler while letting in light.

Mama with the 2 chicks stays in the top part of little broody coop until afternoon. Just checked it and it's still cooler than outside. I'll put them out in the shady grass again later. There is a bunch of thornless raspberries growing against the coop so she demands raspberries now. Those come up true from seed. It all started with one plant in a pot about a decade ago.

Ours is showing 95 right now they have shade most the day.
A sun block is on one side also.

99 here now but I saw 102 on the highway a little while ago. I drove up to the Lacey Cabela's.

I'm going out and fire up the trailer AC and get cool. I struggled through the heat yesterday and it exhausted me! I went to bed before 10 last night.

Went to the bank in Morton stopped at a feed store there bought two of their 3 way mash.

It was 85 in my house. It's much nicer in the trailer with the AC running. Might even sleep here tonight.

ETA: The girls are digging down through the woodchips to make contact with the cooler dirt underneath. It'll be a lot cooler tomorrow, good news for me and the chickens.

Bedroom (9x11) is still 60°. It has the same size AC as the living room/kitchen (about 450 sq ft). I have 2 fans blowing the cold air out. Cooking brought temp up to 72° in living room. Small spaces and we found it kicks on less because nothing gets too warm to act as heat sinks.

It was 107 F yesterday, supposed to be 111 F today. Unfortunately, I lost one of my birds yesterday to the heat. She was my oldest bird, a little over 6 years old.

I am sorry I have been fortunate not loosing any birds so far.
I do allot trying to lay cool water on the floor.
Ice in their water I am am worried about like old Moose.
73 here right now feels so nice.
