Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

When I got home today, my next door neighbor came over to talk to me and told me that he has now seen 3 pairs of bald eagles with white heads, and one pair of juvenile eagles in the trees around our house. I know I've seen 1 pair of white-headed bald eagles swooping down toward my backyard, and a different neighbor has seen the juveniles. I'm glad he came to tell me, because I thought the eagles were finally gone.

He also said he's had a Marsh Hawk land in his yard, and another type of hawk (can't remember what he said it was). Now I'm back on alert. Aaaaaagh! The biggins are out in the back yard right now - but I'm watching them through the sliding glass door. They're NOT going to be happy if they end up stuck in the run all day again.

He also said he's seen a huge flock of Gold Finches, a flock of green birds (again, can't remember the name) and a different type of woodpeckers than we usually get (we usually get a lot of Flickers). He's not sure what has brought in all the wildlife, but he thinks the Eagles will be hanging around as long as all these different species of birds are here.

I'm guessing the green birds are grosbeaks. Are the woodpeckers Downy, Hairy or Pileated? Those Pileateds are neat. Sorry, I'm a bird nerd.

So is my neighbor. A fact that I am grateful for. He is pretty good at identifying any wildlife we see around here. If I want to know what something is, I ask him when I see him and he usually knows. I wish I could remember names easier - this evening he was throwing too many names of animals for my brain to recall them.

Well we're having fun watching the Superbowl. The kids all made signs rooting for different teams and we had Mjaddra for lunch and GF chips/bean dip for dinner. Then we loaded the kids up with candy

They don't get it very often so it's a big treat today, they're excited! Then I realized there was a whole lot of red dye in the red vines William ate and that's why he was outta control upset. So I'm sitting with just William in my dark bedroom watching Sprout while he calms down. It's the little things. I love toddler snuggles!

We're having this for lunch. It's a big favorite here and super easy, although time consuming. Hope y'all enjoy!
Mjaddra

2 large white onions

1 cup olive oil

1 3/4 cup lentils, rinsed & drained

6 cups water

2 cups rice

1 tbsp salt

In large heavy- bottomed pot, heat oil. Slice onions into thin rings, sauté in oil until well browned. Remove pot from heat, transfer most of the onions to paper-towel lined plate to crisp. Add water & lentils to pot, stir over heat until boiling. Cover, turn down to low, simmer 20-25 mins. Add rice and salt, stir well, return to boil, cover & return to low heat to simmer another 15-20 min or til rice is done. Serve garnished with crisp onions and plain yogurt (it's good without yogurt too). Goes great with a garden salad or tomato/cucumber salad.

This sounds so good. I'm going to have to try it.

It is still swollen, the 30min I was out modding the nest boxes did not help. I think it is both mold and the grass. Ugh. Gonna be a painful drive tonight, I want to scratch so bad, but I know that is the worst thing I can do. The game has gotten boring, so I am only watching the commercials too. Neither of my teams are in it so no biggy on the outcome, especially since a Harbaugh is gonna win.
Hey Turltle power- have you ever tried nettle leaf (in a capsule?). We swear by that for our natural anti-histamine solution. Four of us were taking a 40 year old mobile home apart once and the mold inside the sardine can as awful- we all were suffering. I passed out a couple nettle capsules to everyone and within an hour, all was well. Pretty easy to find. Must be nettle LEAF, (not nettle root , which is for prostate)

Quote: NO Yoda is NOT DEAD. I put the string through his hat so I could suspend him when there may not be a suitable seat. As for DOGS well I will guarantee Quincy will never injur Yoda and any other dog. Well I hope it WASN"T a bycers dog.
Also seems you may have missed that there is a special transporter being constructed for Yoda. Expected delivery is the Monroe show !!!
