Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I texted Chicken Rustler to see if it is something he can help with. He has a trailer, not sure if he can work it into his schedule. Hopefully he will hop on here and let ya know

CR would help, but his big truck is out of commission right now :(

What breeds of ducks are you looking into? Because I hope to hatch out muscovy ducklings this year. Hoping to anyway wont be til summer most likely though.
I'd like to start with Swedish, Cayuga and/or Harlequin if I can find them. Muscovies sound like they can be cool but I'm more attracted to Mallard derived breeds. I may just start out with some at Basin Feed, although they don't know what kind are going to be sent as they ordered a hatchery assortment.

i'm going on my 4th 16 oz cup of coffee. Wish I had some energy. This weather is killing me. I need some sun to give me energy. I'm 28 but i have some joint pain issues and this weather (humid) causes so much pain.
Unfortunately, I understand!!!!

At 35, I've been dealing w/ similar issues for 10-12yrs.

Well, geese are my favourite birds BUT, and it's a biggy, they can be agressive to other birds. We had to get rid of ours, because in breeding season, the gander killed a number of "competing" ducklings. He was protecting his goose I know, but we had a lot of losses of babies because of it. So, if you can keep them separate, they can be wonderful. I really miss mine.
That is good to know, thank you! I love the look of Chinese geese, but may start with Toulouse, Pilgrim or maybe Embden (although I prefer colored birds) since they are supposedly calmer. BUT I've read Chinese are wonderful foragers and are lighter so maybe more economical

How big do the CCL roosters get? I may add one to the pullet chicks I am getting Monday from AyeUpChuck. If they are not too big that is. Prolly gonna be getting rid of my Orp rooster. He is just too big(12+lbs) and I have all my girls in saddles. He is 50% English HinkJC line, super fluffy. Enough so I have to trim around his vent so he mates easier.

The older one is a good size, any rooster can do that . I had one who loved one hen so he was always going to her. I moved her out f o r a while.
