Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I got my first three pips this evening! So excited! One was one of the eggs I didn't think would hatch! It's so awesome to hear their little peeps in the bator! We may have a few fluff balls in the morning!!!

Hi all, my wife and I are just getting started raising chickens, we have 10 Gold Stars that are just over 3 weeks old.
We are in Kitsap County, WA, wondering when to put them outside. Any thoughts? Thanks!

My 9 month old black jersey giant squatted for me today! Woohoo! I'll have 7 layers very soon. I have 4 right now. Cocoa BCM has been squatting a few weeks and Rosie RIR just finished molting, she was a great layer before molting.

Welcome Joe! If you can put their brooder lamp outside with them, any time is just fine. If not, I recommend waiting until they're fully feathered, including under their wings, around 8-10 weeks.

Hey- someone posted this to my FB page- and the trailer for this movie is incredible. It's about the Albatross at Midway Island, 2000 miles from the closest inhabited island.

Check this out:

Pale gums is an emergency (shock) I would not delay getting him to the vet if I were you. Don't try to make him eat, he may need surgery. I would certainly not feed a Dane gravy or other carbohydrates under any circumstances, the risk of bloat/torsion is too great with Danes. Good luck to your boy.

Hope all is well with Jazz....

Here's Rooster
