Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hey all,
Anyone on here who wouldn't mind going from the Oly Pen to Renton or Carnation and back on behalf of DeltaBluezTess ? I am trying to get her a pair of Spitz, but well, it's giving me fits! Ha! Also, transport back for a pair of Rhodebars... I could pay in chicks, or eggs... send me a message if you are making a run out this way soon... I'm often in Poulsbo area, less often Bremerton or out Kingston way.
Thank you.
I am going to Monroe, on the 10th....and I can go via Novelty Hill & see Diane, or what have you....give me a buzz.

In return, I am getting some Spitz from her.

I will be around on the 10...I think I am getting some hay that day.

Only snag I see is I can't figure a route from Raymond WA that makes any kind of sense for ChickieLady... you are in Raymond, right? we're in Port Hadlock, on the Olympic Peninsula... :)

Hello Washington Peeps! I'm new to BYC so wanted to say hi. So, hi!!! :)
Hi back, and welcome!

Had an interesting conversation with my vet this weekend. Long story - short - I was there with my dog but needed a chicken fecal done to check for worms ( my vet doesn't "do" chickens but he has personally had them in the past and plans on getting more).

When we were discussing symptoms ( reason for the fecal) he said that he is hearing of a lot of cases of cocci this year in laying/backyard flocks. Has anyone else experienced or heard this? It honestly never crossed my mind that cocci was a problem up here - I thought it was more of an issue in hot/humid environments

My 3 old hatchery girls are struggling this year ( hence why I am only doing heritage birds now).

I'll let you all know what the test results are.

Sitting here having my morning coffee. Chicks and mama are still in their little coop. And I saw a flash of someone big, grey, and avian swoop directly over the coop where the babies are. I'm guessing owl? Whoever it was, they flew at fence-top level, say 5 feet? And in a straight gliding and level flight.
So today I think I'll make sure there's some hidey holes for mom and babies in their nursery yard.
I like owls and all, but I'm more inclined to let them eat the rats in the far back yard. As a matter of fact, the owls can have all the rats they like! Gratis! ;)

I want to say

to all of the new people I've missed the last several days.

Just been really busy here.

I found out what is wrong with my foot, and that I need to have surgery on it. I have a weird bone growth on the top of both feet. The right side is just much bigger than the left and putting pressure on the nerve. Anti-inflammatories have helped. I'm not allowed to wear Birkkenstock type sandals anymore after 30+ years of wearing them for at least half of the year. Also have degenerative arthritis in that foot above the arch. Fun fun stuff.

I do believe it will work as long as Aleta is not too far off the freeway.
We plan to visit the kids most of the day, usually starts with 11:00 then lunch and we get out of there about 3 PM.
I guess it would involve stopping at Aleta's & getting the birds for you, dropping them at Carnation & pick up the ones for her, seeing my kids and then driveing home & dropping her birds with her.
So where is she located ?
PM me her address & I'll run it by DH.
PM me your address too.

Hi back, and welcome!
In this case, you'd have to meet up.
We usually do "meet ups" by having you be at a park & ride or close off the free way big box store, or some such.
Pick a freeway exit, and a store close by, and be there at the appropriate time.
Same on the return trip.
Would that work for you ?
