Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I put eggs in my new incubator after it had been running for over 48 hours and able to hold a steady temp and humidity.

I'll be very surprised if anything is developing. These eggs sat on my count, fat end down for seven days. It was at least 80 degrees several times in my house.

I had the heat get up pretty high a couple of times (over 102). Some of these eggs are from our flock and four are from the neighbors so I have no idea when they were laid and they were in the fridge for at least three days at my house. Some of the eggs are speckled so it's harder to see.

I have no idea (even after looking at tons of pictures of eggs) if anything is progressing like it should at with eggs that were set on 9-6 at
3 pm!

I think this is what it should look like

Excuse the finger trying to get camera to focus

Ring of death?

Double yolk and if so should I pull it?

Sorry the pictures are so big. Photobucket is being a pain!

No bears on the game cam, and my chickens made it through 2 nights of me being gone on duty! Hopefully the new hot wire zapper shows up soon so I can continue on my bear free streak :)

Totally random but does anyone have an issue with wild birds flying into windows?!? I keep my curtains closed but they still try to go through my window! I swear they are going to break it. It happens a few times a day....

Edited to add they are mostly swallows that are in need of special birdie helmets :/

We have this once in awhile. One broke it's neck last month flying into the sliding glass door. The chickens like to do it once in awhile too. Thankfully they do it feet first and not head.

Usually they don't do it before coffee and I'll tell you what it scared the ... Uh Hmmm tar? yes tar outta me! My daughter said I jumped 5 feet in the air. She was in tears she was laughing so hard. Lil' turd! Lol

Yes, this was happening several times a day for us. Scares the heck outta all of us and sets the dogs off! Not to mention all the poor birdies!
It has stopped completely once we got those special window clings. Not the solid colored ones shaped like birds--these are special UV reflecting clings that are almost clear. I got ours via PAWS wildlife rehab. They are probably on Amazon too.

This is what we have. It has stopped completely since we got them. You need to replace them every few months, but its better than having to collect dead chickadees every day :'(
We had tried everything, but only this worked!

Only 11 more days! We're both in the coast guard and he just got his orders here. I transferred up in June, but actually graduated from south bend so basically moved home, lol. I just ordered a "hotter" fencer and an air horn. Gonna scare the hair off the bear!
Oh great idea !
We had a "Scarecrow" sprinkler that worked good for scareing critters...maybe that would work too ?
