Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hi, my name is Heather and I'm from the Spokane/Cheney area of WA. I was wondering if any of you are from there? I hope I posted in the right place, just trying to find my way around this big site.
I'm in Medical Lake with geese and ducks. I've got too many eggs already so I've resisted chickens.

Our last case was 5/7. Does that mean Spokane Co is safe from that infection spreading?

Hey there they had some you have mostly Ducks and geese your higher risk as wild would stop there seeing yours .. can you stop wild coming in?
So far no wilds visiting mine -- they angle past, not directly over, to the lake 3 blocks away. Although a few weeks ago a Canada gander was sitting about 50ft up at the top of a broken off tree 2 houses down. That neighbor says a pair of mallards has been there as well but I've never seen them. There is a ringneck pheasant calling but (so far) my birds haven't braved the pines to join him.

It's sad to have to view the wilds as a threat :(. I was watching that perching gander.

Funny but not great to watch them .. I have taken my CO2 pistol shooting to startle not at birds .. No ducks or geese here or water. Bird stuff is in their coop.

I taught the dogs to chase ducks and geese off the property. They leave killdeer alone. Athena eats starlings. I think there is some sort of chase game going on with the ravens, whom I feed and they know me. Rest of the birds are mostly ignored.

I have locked dogs in the chicken pen in the past because they are trustworthy around them. Not around the chicken food, though.

We have a new puppy we pick up in a couple weeks so I have to go back through all the training again. At least Athena can help me on some of that.

Mom and Dad took over my deposit and did the buying agreement Monday. He's just under 7 weeks. Hubby wanted to keep with the Greek god theme so we decided on Hermes.

I called the vet today to make an appointment because I know all vets are busy and short staffed. They were happy I thought ahead and wasn't demanding an immediate appointment for an impulse purchase. So just a couple days after we get home from picking him up.
