Morning last day of Summer atmospheric river on the way.
We had fried apples last night cosmic crisp.
Chile cheese dogs for dinner cold weather the way.
Got all the free building material scraps I picked up last night from the two new houses being built down the road unloaded. Now I'm getting started on the well head slab project. The slab probably won't be pretty, but it will be covered with an enclosure of some kind. Out of sight, out of mind. LOL
Last day of summer and the fall weather arrives tomorrow.
I skipped the gym so I could sit on the deck one last time. Tomorrow table will be covered and other furniture stored away.
There will still be sunny days but everything will be wet all the time. At least we can uncover the table and chairs to enjoy the nice days and they will be dry.
Picked up a new wrist watch on Amazon little Timex Keeping great time already.
Last one needed battery but wally closed the jewelry counter so trash.
Next time at the mall west Olympia stop at the jewelry store have the band fit it better.
Could go look for eggs but give them more time.
Everything's ready for me to mix concrete tomorrow and pour the slab. I would've done it today but I was just too tired and sore from all the work I did. Wish I was 20 years younger. LOL
Stew in the crock pot for dinner. Saturdays are soup days. Was able to use my own potatoes. I love that.
I harvested so many tomatoes I think I'll have to can some more. Tomorrow I'll be making tri-tips and I think some candied tomatoes will go well with that. Ever made that with your tomatoes? You roast them very low and slow, 325 for about 2 hours, with a little salt, olive oil and thyme. They turn out incredible.
I finished the slab around the well head this morning. Concrete mixed and poured (actually shoveled), and smoothed off good enough. Now it's "wet curing" with a couple of old water soaked beach towels laying over it. Wet curing makes the concrete stronger.
It's trying to rain a little here, with a sprinkle now and then. I should go out and pick all the turning tomaters again, and there's one butternut squash that I think is ready, too.
My chickens' laying has slowed down lately, and I think it coincides with my not giving them as much wetted down layer pellets, which they love. When they only have the dry pellets, I get the feeling that they don't eat as much. Just a guess.
Yesterday...
Today...
Feels good to have this project nearly completed. Just have to wait a week for the concrete to cure completely, then I'll remove the forms and fill around the concrete with rocky dirt. I'll build a little wooden enclosure over it one of these days.
