Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Just checking in to see how this "new" thread is going. Did we have any casualties / fatalities with the crossover from the old thread?

Seems like y'all continued without skipping a beat or missing a step!

Thanks Dave! It looks a bit awkward. Do you think someone with limited strength could fill and turn it back over without drenching oneself?

My wife can do it - if she can, you can.

Oh .. you might get wet the first few times you turn it over, but then you'll get the hang of it. I like them because they are plastic, so I can add bleach or ACV. They also will hang if you prefer. They only turn on when the temp is 35 or less. Use a funnel to make them easier to fill.

Happy Veteran's Day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JRs Whistlestop is doing free vet meals on Monday. DH has his retiree ID. I was going to pull my DD214 out of the safe. Only thing I can think of that really would prove it. We eat there somewhat regularly so they know us anyway.

Oh dear taking the door away is awesome !!
I never would have thought about that !!!!!!!!!!!!!

At first I was very worried how she would act when no longer the only child...but she must be growing up !!!

Growing up doesnt even begin to describe this little girl! She is a big girl in a little body! She's a tough little cowgirl thats for sure! The first few months having Emily here was hard to handle. Chloe was doing bad bad things to her sister. Luckily so far those acts of meanness have stopped. Now she just wants to play with Em, and help Momma.

The taking of the door trick works wonders I tell yah! And MUCH easier to teach her that lesson now, than when she is 13, Im guessing! lol

Bleh. My BCM has some sort of flea or mite. I haven't seen it, but she's dropping all sorts of black poo or egg sacks off her rear end into the nest boxes. I had skipped the Eprinex for the fall but now I guess I have to do it tonight for everyone. Bummer, it's cold and I don't want to stand in the dark coop. Plus now I have to clean out the coop and nest boxes. I think it's the straw. I got rid of all the straw in the run just a few days ago since I had a feeling it was harboring (or had the potential to) bugs. Guess we're starting fresh entirely with dirt/sand in the run and a light layer of shavings in the coop for winter. Think I'm switching to shavings in the nest boxes too, just to ward off bugs. Lots of DE too!

Miss Chloe sounds a lot like my daughter. I always sort of knew where to look for missing things at my house. It was nearly inevitable that I would find things in my Erin's room. She had a thing for office supplies, and containers. If she was given a purse, she was always happy a happy camper. Erin would get mad at me for catching her doing things, or if I did something that she couldn't do yet. I can still remember how mad she got because I could play one song on the piano.

The best part is knowing that a child like this, really can be anything she wants to be as an adult. It can be a little scary and intimidating at times to know how smart your child is. lol I love your solution for slamming the door. I love when the consequences are directly related to the provocation. I often read about parents grounding kids, and I have never really understood it. When I was growing up there was nothing that we could be ground from. We were nearly always at home anyway, and we had to go to church no matter what. So I don't ever remember being grounded. We got disciplined other ways. Some of it was good and some bad.

I was even more careful about making sure that the punishment fit the crime with my kids. It must have worked, because both kids have been able to become self supporting, contributing members of society. They both moved out shortly after they turned 18, and have never needed to come home because they couldn't make it on their own. I am very proud of both of my kids.

Im not big on grounding. Was always a joke when I was a kid. Did nothing but cause idle hands. And well you know what they say about idle hands... tends to cause even more trouble.

Chloe has always been exceedingly smart. My Dh and I agreed before we had the girls, that we would never baby talk to them, and that we would communicate. I catch myself forgetting when talking with Chloe that she is only 4, and have to take a step back and really look at her. She seems to have grown so big, just in the past 7 months

Sorry random thoughts, and not a clear enough mind to put it out there. Without sounding like a complete idiot. lol

Another night maby. lol
