Are we going to need to let the pizza place know that we have a large group coming in for lunch? I am not sure how many are going to make it, and there could be a few that will join us after we meet up for the day. So with Tamara not coming, do we need to make sure that we will be able to eat together as planned? I remember the name of the pizza place, and they have a gluten free menu there, plus salad bar.

I think we were planning on doing dinner, but if everybody would rather do lunch, that might be easier for those that are going to head out Saturday after the show...

We are heading out after the show to get back up here, we have weird renters next door that can see if we are here or not and it is worrying DH bad.
I also have all the eggs in the incubators and pipping that will be going on in another incubator..and a horde of baby chicks.
I plan to feed them all up, lots of extra water fonts & bowls, and lock the coops.
Hope they don't flip out & kill each other while locked in.
They have been locked in before when it was really cold so I am hoping they behave themselves.

Actually, that sounds like a great idea. Lots cheaper too probably than eating AT a restaurant twice in one day...especially for those of us that are staying up there all weekend..

wow sorry I suggested it. my vet has it and says it is safe to spray in eyes. do you spray your bleach solution in the eyes? doesnt hurt them? I will have to go read some more about it. thought there were other ingredients or something they did to it in order to make it safe but effective.

We use it in our water, drink it & bathe with it and yes, in the eyes.
Read the label, it is water and Sodium Hypochlorite, which is bleach.
Bleach in small amounts is what heals, and kills bacteria and fungus.
Bleach is necessary or we would all be very sick.
Bet Bleach prices go up, as Japan needs it to clean their drinking water.

That's really cool that your chickens respond to you so well, Ilia.

I'm planning to have a chicken tractor for my 4 girls, in addition to a coop with attached run. I'm wondering though, if they have a bottomless wire cage for rooting around in the day time, do they feel protected? Should I have a roof over part of it?

Sounds like Illia is making a great rooster!

Good thing you were out there !!!
Maybe have to get netting!!

Well, I am off to get more work done,

and so glad to see Toni is doing a little better.
We had a bit of wind late last night, and several thunderstorms too.
One crashed so close there was no seconds between the flash and clap of thunder so loud it blew me clean outta bed.
Close !!!!
Scared the peewaddin right outta me!!
DH slept through it all..but even asleep with my eyes closed and indoors, I could see the flash left dots on my retinas..I could see the eerie greenish dot for some time. That was too close !

Another stupid newbie question.

On the monroe feedstore chick list they have the splash silkie as standard yet they have all the other silkies listed as Bantam. are splash silkies standard sized or do you think its a tyypo?

Netting? Ha! Too bad it was raining when you were here, otherwise you'd understand just how much it would take to put netting over the pasture.

No such thing as standard sized Silkies.

Rooster chicks - If you show them to me by 4 weeks old or older, I can spot the boys from the girls.

Roosters can be sexed long before they start crowing, which is usually at 4 months old.
