. Ahhh, come on! It's not too many pages! LOL! Just jump right in.

We lent one of our chickens today to a friend who did a lesson for kids' section of his church. We washed her last night & kept her isolated. She was a hit. I guess word got out after the first service & the second service's show was filled with kids.
Here she is ready to head out the door.

Well, we all got a lot of aerobic exersize tonight- and as soon as we had Malvina caged, we had to get clean shoes on and go dashing over to Trader Joe's for our weekly list there, and then I had to eat and my brain came back online.

Obviously, I need to get Malvina access to a bigger run, but like everything else, that's contingent on getting more done on any given day that we seem able to do. Of course, I shouldn't complain- my long-time gardening and now chicken friend in Connecticut was going to finish her outside run today and instead spent the whole day dealing with broken limbs and crushed shrubbery from the snow storm.

Even if its not her first. Its still good advice to have repeated!

I always appreciate any advice! Please keep it coming.

One more tip. Reme, ber that not all kids are the same! Some take longer to figure things out than others do. Like eating more solid foods... My little one started eating soft foods around 2 1/2 months of age... Other kids dont start on soft foods until they are around 6 months. Same goes for learning to potty train, get themselves dressed, ride a bike, ect... You get the point. lol

Anyways I can share what I have learned over the past 3 years, mostly by trial and error, as chloe is my first. I can only hope that this second little one will be as easy as she was.

4 hours of carving pumpkins with 3 kids... Im mentally warn out now. Finally finished the easiest pattern I have done in years, but I feel like it took forever...

I don't think so, I have been doing the same thing. They learn it eventually. Can you put a light in the coop so that as it gets dark, the inside of the coop is light and inviting? Then you can just turn it off when they go in. I have heard that it works so I am trying it. But I have faith that they will eventually learn. My others did but it seems a little harder and scarier for them with a raised coop. Keep doing what you are doing!

Oh, they're going in now! I used the flashlight in the coop for two nights. Now they go in without it. They still like to huddle in the corner though.

Sorry Ididn't think of this sooner. For those who have no power in the coop. You can get those dome shape lights that are about 6" dia. they run for a few hours on 4 AA batteries or at RV supply stores you can get some that look like a regular light bulb but they use 4 AA batteries. Both of these are also great to have around the house during power outages. I have several that I turn on while I am geting the generator going.
