I have also been told this week it's not over til it's over by WA-4Hpoultrymom, so now I am saying it to you, he might be in a tree somewhere waiting for the perfect time to come back and surprise you! let's hope for that too and I know what you mean about falling in love with them, especially the Marans. But they all have a way of stealing our hearts! we can say at least your son didn't fall down the stairs with a paintbrush in his hands (you know the rest) last night!! LU!!

Hi all;

I think one of my gals has worms. Well I know she does, that makes me think I have others with it as well. What should I use to treat them? And if I treat for worms do I also stop eating eggs from them for up tp a week after we stop treatment? THanks

I wormed my hens just one and a half weeks ago. I saw worms in the poop. So I gave everyone some Wazine 17. You are not supposed to eat any of the eggs for 2 weeks afterwards. Then you need to follow up with Iverectin which is often sold as a horse wormer. It will finish up killing anything that is left. Here is a link to more information.

I got a 16 oz bottle of Wazine 17 at Country Farm and Feed CO. on Auburn-Enumclaw Hwy. I paid 7.99 for the bottle. What I read about dosing with the paste is

"Fenbendazole aka Safe-Guard. Panacur. Paste. Another good broad spectrum wormer with a high safety margin. Kills roundworms (adults), cecal worms, capillary worms, and gape worms. You can make a bb-sized piece of it and put into the beak. MSU says that you can use as follows:

1 oz Safeguard or Panacur per 15-20 lb feed

Dissolve the fenbendazole product in one cup of water. Mix this solution well into the feed and give to the birds as their only feed source for one day. When completely consumed, untreated feed can be given. Be sure that the commercial medication contains 10% fenbendazole."

No one's coop should be that full of poop !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do a scoop every other day from the poop boards under my roosts, and with 40 chickens, that takes me about 10 minutes.
When it gets to the point of ammonia it is due to a bacterial breakdown, and that is poop that has sat way too long !
Something is telling me you have an extremely poorly designed coop, as if it were well designed, it would be a breeze to clean, and no ammonia or other gasses would build up !
Need some coop design help ?

P.S. Still need Royal Palm Turkeys ASAP...I do not want to get them out of state, the eggs are too screwed up....I just thru out 4....clear as a bell after 20 days~~~~~

I have a have-a-heart trap set up 24/7 and catch about 6 cats a month here...way out in the woods.
It pisses me off that these invasive species are killing many many native species of birds, toads, frogs, salamanders, rabbits and other creatures as well.
There is no neighbors around here that have cats. There is no neighbors !
I have cats piss sprayed over the boat a few days ago..all over my green house, around all the chick pens...another reason for me to freak that my dog is gone...and the new pup is a baby....shheeeeeeeesh ! Kick butt on cats !
