I hope that will join us in our addiction. I hope that someone can help you with finding the eggs that you want. I do know that several people have Black Copper Marans eggs available right now.

What kind of worms did you see in their poo ?
Curious as to what kind of worms you had ?

I was cleaning out the poop tray behind the roost, and I saw what looked like the kind of worms that puppies have. They were long and real thin and round. I don't remember the exact timeline on the events, but it was all really close together. I had one of my BCM die of what looked like brain cancer, and then I found the other BCM dead in coop a couple of days later. She had been fine I saw her with the flock eating scratch. She looked healthy and happy and then an hour or so later she was dead in the coop. I am wondering if it was worms. I got wormer the next day and wormed them all. We can start eating the eggs again on Saturday. I am going to worm the girls again with Iverectin on Saturday. I need to check and see how long I have to wait to be able to eat the eggs. I do know that egg production went up from about 6 a day to almost 12 eggs every day. So from here on out I am going to worm them on a schedule.

I use DE a lot in the coop and run. It helps but according to the thread on worming it is not enough by its self. The link I posted had a lot of really good information.

Worms are present in the dirt most of the times, so it is hard to have your birds not get them. I also free range on a small scale by letting the girls out to hunt bugs in the back yard. I also have 7 dogs that use the yard for doggy doing things, so I think that it is very possible that the girls got the same kind of worms that the puppies have had.

Okay, remember I spoke earlier of the rain? it is not really 2.5 inches a day...feels like it though. We don't get this much rain, this is nuts. sorry for possible typos....cat (Zach) just has to be in my lap while I type.

Anyhway, I threw up a tarp over chicken run last night to try and give them a dry spot to play. They have a good size coop, but for 13 hens and 1 roo....I thought they may get "owly".

This morning went out to dump water off of it, literally, seconds before I was under it to raise it up to dump the water, the landscaping fabric it was resting on gave way and flooded the run. I missed getting DRENCHED by a secoind maybe 2. Poor chickiepoos are gonna have to play in a wet run again.

On an up note, because we went and chick (inside)/dog (outside) proofed the big yard with a tighter fence....daughter's bunny was saved. Bunny got out last night and has been roaming the yard. We found her holed up under the kiddie pool.

rain, rain go away.

THats what happened to me. I found my polish hen really sick just kind of laying around. I picked her up and found a worm hanging out of her. THat was yesterday. I started them last night on the wormer you recommended. I found the polish dead today

I am hoping I got to the rest in time. On a side note for some reason I also found my blue laced red dead this morning too. Not sure what happened to her. THen to make matters worse my momma hen decided she doesn't like one of the babies anymore so she was treating her kind of bad. I moved the chick in with the other chicks that are about 8-16 weeks old and they seem to have accepted her ok. She went over and layed next to one and also got some water and food so I hope she makes it, but I am considering bringing her inside the house and taking one of the other chicks to keep her company.

Update: The 26 day chick that hatched did not make it. Not sure why but she seemed to really have a slow start to life.

Hope everyone has a good day

Welcome back and please share pics!!! What did you get??!?!?!?!

we hunted for days , if not months, for the perfect bred, and then applied it to a puppy, and went searching in Muttland to find a pup on death row...Pyranees, German Shepard, and Australian Shepard.
How is that for a mix?
<\\Makes you wonder when I tell you Dad was the Pyranees, and I think he was a Kuvasz, not a Pyranees, and Mom was a German Shepard-Australian Shepard, and this pup is smart and strong, and stold our hearts, everyone's hearts.
He is being very good for sudden seperation from his 7 other siblings....mostly he runs, fecthes, and snuggles and sleeps.

I will post some more...His name is morphing into Jack, and he is a doll...makes me smile to even look at him, he has a eye with white eyelashes, and the other eye has black liner and lashes
big_smile.png
so the total effect is that he has one eye smaller like he is winking !
I am so busy with this baby...and loving him so much !
I also got a big bunch of wild sagebrush hanging in my kichen now.
You can bet that in the next few wekks, you will all be very tired of seeing pictures of this funny boy !
I also have at least one French Blue Splash Maran chick that will need a home, and maybe alot of Ply.BR roos and pullets, and I am looking for Royal palm hatching eggs, Thanks all who have followed me on this odeal to put my 17 year old best friend down to euthanasia, and the quest to find a new puppy to love, and this pup is a rescue puppy...and well worth the drive to Grant County to get him.
So, now you know Jack.

So DARLING!!!!!

Does anyone know if Ameraucana eggs are hard to hatch in general? If Zgoatlady had problems, and I don't have any pips in mine yet, I'm starting to wonder! I had heard Marans can be hard to hatch because of their hard shell, does the same hold true for Ameraucana's???
