I want to get Wazine and worm my flock, and also vaccinate for Mareks on the birds that have not been.
I heard that the shot, given under the skin, make a small bubble, and then later the birds can act very sick, almost to the point of appearing near to death from the live vaccine, is this true ?
Got some pointers here ?
And do I give the same small under-the-skin bubble to all, chicks, pullets and mature chickens as well ?
Next Q: Wazine and Mareks at the same time be too much ?
I have had no ill effects from the Marek's vaccine. Mind you, the fowl pox vaccine is another story- weak birds may become ill after that one. You give the same 0.2cc dose to a chick or an adult- vaccine theory is not weight- dependent. Seems weird, I know. I have not tried vaccinating and deworming at the same time. I probably would not do it with my more inbred birds, but would do it with my free-rangers. I am writing an article on small-flock vaccination- may post it.
That is so cool ! You have no idea how long I have looked for info on IF we could vaccinate adult birds and WHY do they alwways say 'day-old-chciks' only ?
I always wondered about a 2 day old chick, or a week old ?
Well, thanks you so much !
It is fantastic to be able to have someone answer these q's...I used to raise koi, and went through living hell when they got diseases, there is so few vets who know anything aboout fish and fowl.
Thanks so much, again !
