Hey. I'm not sure where your farm is at. But I'm right out here on Indianola Rd. If its close by, I could go out and check on everybody if you need. Temps are supposed to get close to 32* tomorrow, so hopefully we will thaw out some. The main roads are ok, but I have no idea how the south side of the bridge is... Havn't ventured over to the Island yet. There was a fatal accident between Totten and in town Suquamish, two days ago. And there is about 12 cars in various ditches between me place and Poulsbo. Had quite the time getting out of the driveway this morning, but once on the road all was ok, safe to drive so long as your slow, and steady.

Wow, thanks, it's good to know people still look after each other! There's three people up there now and two more came over to help with the cattle. I'm gonna try again today. Have you been out on the 305? I'm assuming the huge ice sheet that spanned from the casino past Coyote Coffee to the top of the hill towards Poulsbo is gone? That's where I wiped out. I'm noticing it's warmer right now then it was when I went to sleep last night, though I hear there's a bit more snow before the rains.

305 was clear for the most part last night. So far the worst road that I have found is my own. lol Even this morning going out to the barn, I got stuck on sheet ice in the intersection. You can get around anywhere, so long as you take it slow. Temps where I am are finally at 30* with an expected high of 33*. sO YES WARMER, BUT NOT ABOVE FREEZING JUST YET. I hate the caps lock key... I'm more than happy to help out in any way I can. Need a trough de-icer? I can lend you my spare for the winter. I thought about figuring out how to use it for the chickens, but its just to big for my four little girls. If you ever need help Rainplace, just send me an IM, and I will see what I can do to help out. Not a problem. I've got a 1/2 ton truck, a car thats awsome in snow and ice, I even have a horse trailer if the need for one arises. Don't be shy. I believe in helping neighbors out when they need it. And I don't plan on changing that any time soon.

Have a great Turkey day everyone!

Illia. As far as Puget Power goes to be without power for ten hours isn't bad at all.
You need to take a few things into consideration.
This just wasn't tree branches falling they were trees.
Big difference in time completion.
You had major wires go down.
To get from one spot to another in those conditions takes time.
I know it's frustrating but if you live in Washington save up money for a generator no matter what area you live in you will eventually need it.
A good Honda engine will last many years. Mine going on 15 and starts every time.
Puget power has come a long ways in the last 5 years as far as repair work goes.
We have power outages up here all the time.
I have spent many hours over the years talking to the guys to understand better what they go through.

The person with the cell phone in the water........................

Take out the battery and sim card. place those and the rest of the phone in a biog bowl of rice. Leave it for a couple days.
Have 4 of us with phones and my daughter has done it twice. Myself once.
2 out of 3 times the rice trick worked.
The rice sucks the moisture out of the phone.

Your plucky attitude. Maybe you can serve EGG nog as well.
Enjoy your plucky ducky Thanksgiving. And next year let's set up our sisters to have Thanksgiving together. My younger sister will cook (like a tornado went thru) but won't clean up. so glad the roads are too slick for anyone to show up today. Am I reclusive? Might be

and she may decide to do the cooking next year. However on the other hand if ya do tell and she eats them and doesn't know. She may decide HEY THOSE DUCK EGGS ARE GOOD. And then ya could be stuck again.

Does anyone live in Seattle or near by cities have Delaware and Barred Rock fertilized hatching egg for sale?

I think that it is illegal in Washington to have wild waterfowl. I know of a case in Sumner that the person involved had rescued a injured duckling and raised it. When Fish and Wildlife found out they came and got the duck. The owner was protesting because it was very clear that the duck was never going to be rehabilitated and be returned to the wild. I think that the original people were able to get it back, but were warned to not mess with the wild duck population again. You could double check with the Padilla Bay Center @ http://www.padillabay.gov/ or Paws. Whatever you do check it out, because the fines and possible jail time isn't worth it.

I hope you'all are having a great holiday. Sometime soon you will all be getting sleepy, you are getting very sleepy. You are all getting very very sleepy. I'll be over to take my pick of chickens and duckys'
