hello! just wanted to show my Washington Pride. I'm originally from Tacoma and lived there 18 years. now, after college in oregon, i am currently living up in Everett. i'm eagerly awaiting the day when i have my own house so i can have hens. my first plan will be "where are we gonna put the coop?" !

My orpington hen is almost 10 months and no eggs yet.

.... and my two hatchery Buff Orpingtons started laying at 5 months, in January ... short days, cold, no supplemental heat or light!

(But I think all my hatchery birds are gonna wear themselves out pretty quickly as I am averaging 7 eggs per day from 9 hens)

Thanks everyone for sharing in my excitement!!! I thought maybe the lavender Orp pullet I have might be getting ready, I've seen what I thought were "nests" in their coop. But nothing from her yet. It's funny, over on the English Orp thread, seems like everyone is getting their first eggs this week!
