Ewww! I have like 10 pairs of gloves for that...I actually soak them pretty good and it helps the poop come off and then I blow them dry. The two Sussex girls I'm bringing to the show have BIG, fluffy white booties with poo on them!

I cannot waite to try and put the giant snow cock (

) in the sink and wash his lily white everything !!
The hens love their butt washing...but MOT does not want his rear fiddled with..so far...
The fun part will be getting him to sit in the sink...

You should save the eggs and incubate them. They are fertilized by a pure Coro roo. You will get 50% pure and 50% split.

Oh wait, edited to add that roo isn't that fertile yet. Still you never know. He's getting the boot if he doesn't shape up in the next month.

wow sorry I suggested it. my vet has it and says it is safe to spray in eyes. do you spray your bleach solution in the eyes? doesnt hurt them? I will have to go read some more about it. thought there were other ingredients or something they did to it in order to make it safe but effective.

We use it in our water, drink it & bathe with it and yes, in the eyes.
Read the label, it is water and Sodium Hypochlorite, which is bleach.
Bleach in small amounts is what heals, and kills bacteria and fungus.
Bleach is necessary or we would all be very sick.
Bet Bleach prices go up, as Japan needs it to clean their drinking water.

I am aware of what bleach does. I just never thought to spray it in an eye before. figured it might burn a bit, so you learn something new every day. I will keep my suggestions to myself next time, I would feel bad if people got ripped off on my account. thanks for the info!

One of our girls kicked the bucket when the weather was so cold. She was my favorite, the prettiest, and our best layer too.

DH is not as sad - she was very noisy right outside our bedroom window every morning.

We're thinking of getting another chick but is it problematic to get just one?
Is there a proper way to introduce a chick to the girls (they will be 1 soon)?
I really, really would like a "real" Araucana or Ameraucana- would just love to have those pretty eggs. And the real reason I'm posting on this thread rather than elsewhere, is there anybody in the Snohomish County/N. King County area who would part with a chick of one of these breeds?

We thought we got one last spring from the local feed store but HE (oops!) was really an EE. Am I right that EE's eggs can be pretty much any color?

We're already technically at the max for the city limits but 3 hens just doesn't keep this family of 5 in enough eggs.

Thanks. Tried to keep it short and sweet.

How old is he? Have you trimmed their vents? I have to on all of my Sussex & cochins or there's very little fertility if any. It took my rooster about 10 months before he was doing the deed properly and I got him and the girls all trimmed up. I don't trim the younger birds that I show until after they've shown, though.
