One of my friends lives on an island in the Chesapeake Bay, that luckily is attached to the mainland by a bridge, but she lived off a small farm-road way at the other end of the island. This was about 15 years ago in January. They were having the worst snowstorm in a century when she went into labor - none of the nearby roads were plowed, and the snow was far too deep for their truck. There was a house nearby where the owners had an excavating business, and they had a front-loader. They lined the bucket with blankets and called an ambulance, then put Tracey in the bucket all bundled up and drove out the 3 miles or whatever it was to the nearest plowed road where the ambulance was waiting to take her to Annapolis! The baby was fine, but mom was in the hospital for several weeks with a really bad case of pneumonia.
Hopefully your tire comes in soon, best you noticed it now rather than on the drive to the hospital.
