when you check Craiglist for coops, be sure to search also for Shed, Playhouse, and Kennel ... also Cage

several interesting items on the Olympia area Craigslist now ...

sometimes there are cabinets, dressers, hutches, breakfronts .. that can be repurposed as at least grow-out coops

edited to add: entertainment centers -- your nest boxes are virtually already built ...

some of the listings of crates, would be sufficient for a small flock, especially the larger shipping crates (no, not necessarily the great big crates that Broodytood and I got; but many places that sell equipment or motors of various sorts, get crates that are well built and bigger than a breadbox ...

occasionally there will be someone offering "scrap wood", or pallets, and I've seen awesome coops made out of pallets

power tools are not necessarily required -- a good crowbar might be ... and a hammer and screwdriver .. I also found a large stapler came in handy, for attaching fence-wire or hardware cloth

of course personally I would not like to live without my trusty Makita ... cordless drill/screwdriver ... and those show up secondhand at reasonable prices since many people buy the newer smaller lighter devices ... for coop building you don't need Tim-Allen's-More-Power tools !!

one more idea

someone is always getting rid of an old swing set

it makes a really nice frame for a coop and run

wrap it with fencing wire (not THAT expensive), install a sliding glass door or window (Craigslist ?? ), attach hardware cloth to the bottom 2 or 3 feet, build a box like coop (many hardware stores will cut plywood to size for you) -- mine is basically a 42 inch cube with a slightly slanted roof, fine for my seven chickens ... mine was made from scrap wood by my neighbor but basically it's just 3 standard sheets of plywood

alternatively you could make your run out of PVC piping arched within a wooden frame .. lots of "hoop houses" plans on BYC or available if you Google them up

No, I have a newborn baby and I'm breast-feeding...not to mention we're broke since I'm off work (unpaid)--so no shows for me until maybe spring.

Anyone need a saddle? Or a dryer? We need to sell some stuff ASAP or I'll have to go back to work one month early.

My medical bills are slowing rolling in....so far, we're up to $5,000 (with insurance). I think my cap is $8,500.

We got the helicopter statement....

$22,745!

BUT that's BEFORE insurance....so we'll see....

DH says we'll have to sell the truck and my horses to pay for it.
