Wow. I was out in the middle of nowhere for the weekend (Indian Valley, ID). I come home and check this board and there are quite a few pages upon pages to read through. This was a rush to Idaho for just the weekend so hubby could spend precious time with his cousin Rick. Long story short, Rick and hubby are like brothers to each other. Rick in past few years has had cancer 3 seperate times and made it through. Last year, hubby got phone call to tell him that Rick was given 6 months and Hospice is now involved. It has been a year now since that phone call. Last week hubby's aunt called to tell him Rick was starting to do worse and that we needed to get over there for time.

Friday, we dropped my kids off at dad's house and then drove the over 5 hours to get there. Got up Saturday and went and visited with Rick until he was tired then we went off for the day with hubby's aunt and uncle and their friends. 70 miles later on a 4 wheeler and some of the most awesome sites possible we were back at Aunt and Uncle's house.... Sleep, get up go see Rick this morning then get in car to be on time to pick up my kiddos.

Yup that ride was definately awe inspiring. As hubby and I both said at same time: This is God's Country.

Hubby's stepson was taking care of the animals for the weekend and our landlady was helping him. I came home expecting some losses. But of all my birds and other animals here I lost only 1 of my speckled sussex chicks. She managed to get out of the pen 2 times and not sure what happened but it appears she died of fright. No teeth marks on her or blood or anything. It was definately a weekend to make a person think and realize the importance of family.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's on here.

Glad you had a nice visit and a good time! Sorry about your chick!!

Well tomorrow will mark a significant date for DW and I. I guess that means I am gonna have take a walk out in the field to see if I can find any tansy and or lupine so I can pick her a bouquet.
Hard to believe how fast 20 years goes by.

Congrats to both of you! That is a big accomplishment!

Well I have spent the past three days building a fence around my garden. I managed to save enough meds to be able to actually get things done. The fence was complete today. I managed to build most of it all by myself. Now I am working on fencing in the rest of the flower beds. I am tired of all the mud in the house. My dear Jet is rather good at bringing in more than an average amount of dirt. I spotted all the dogs playing in one of the beds just the other day. I am going to add hot wire to the top of the fences. It will be high enough that the nasty little dogs should be able to touch, but just at the right height to convince a very naughty mutt that he should not play in the garden.

The warmer weather has helped me a lot. I feel much better when it's warmer. I hope that everyone had a Mother's day today. We don't do anything around here to celebrate, but it was nice to have DH here to help me some. DH got home from Germany about mid day Saturday, and he is off to California in the morning. So I should head for bed now. I think that I will get to sleep next to DH for about an hour.

I am planning to plant my garden tomorrow, and finish up some of the fencing.

Glad the warmer weather is helping you! Hope your able to get what you want done!!

Sounds like a wonderful visit, we like to vacation in Idaho now and then, sorry about your husbands cousin, sickness is always hard, I work in a hospital and can get detached, and your critters managed well without you for a few days, I know others dont give the same quality care as you do, but i hope he did enjoy caring for them.
