Quote: It's not bad. If you could do dissections in high school biology or clean and cut meat in the kitchen, butchering and processing isn't too different really.

Erm. It's my everlasting plague to have to touch raw meat. I will do it, especially if that means I have healthy, safe, HAPPY meat (I know that sounds weird but you all know what I mean...happy before they were slaughtered, LOL), then I'd do just about anything to acquire said meat. I even answered a couple CL ads offering free roosters; told them I'd come by on Saturday morning to pick them up on my way to process birds. We'll see who just needs their birds gone, instead of wanting to re-home them.

Quote: Oh, we were basically safe (other than the kinda scary), we could get out. It was more making sure paper records were kept dry. Hospital supplies were kept dry. Electrical room was kept (almost) dry. the physical therapy department was also flooded as was the dialysis department. Not be feet of water only about 3 inches - but people were safe...it was just saving equipment and supplies and stopping the water from doing any further damage. About 3 inches of water in basement. Also, drain on the roof got plugged by debris, this caused water to back up and it caused roof tiles to fall in one of the labor and delivery rooms - there was a patient in it. No one hurt, thank God. The weather was just very scary. Our fire department is staffed by volunteer and has lots of young people on it. They were there helping. And not only was it raining so hard to do all this...but lightning was popping off all over (and very close). I can tell I am babbling. Been a long day. I helped for some 2+ hours to get things dried out...by then it was under better control. Probably time for me to get off the computer and go to bed. LOL. Night all.

Wow, a giganto stealth tomato!
I have some wee ones here slightly smaller than cherry tomatoes. They are appropriately enough, called Red Robin tomatoes.

With this cool rainy weather, it may well be the only one I get................

Quote: Robin: Isn't this nuts? Did you see the photos I posted? Just follow Fly's link back. I think (hope) that the rest of our weekend is suppose to be nice. We have had rain or lightning almost every day for the past 2 weeks (I think 2 weeks). Maybe Heather will come on and verify. The weather has been insane. I have been very worried about birds, but all seem to be hanging in there. Turkeys refuse to use the "cover" I made for them. So I re-convigured them a "better" spot. They seem much happier tonight. They would sit out in the rain. All the orps are doing well, and the seramas are all doing okay.

Ummm... some of us kept them in the brooder for 11 weeks. Not because of heat though... but because some of us had no clue how long it would really take to design and build the "perfect" coop/run. And even after all those hours of planning, and re-planning... some of us are still looking back and thinking "I wish I had done such and such.
Glad to know that I wasn't the only one keeping the chicks in the brooder for a while
