From the mouths of Babes.............................Why do some people have chickens? ugh! I just replied on a forum where someone was feeding their chickens scratch for feed and were worried about why they weren't laying yet at only 21 weeks. I told him/her first to feed the chickens real chicken food, not treats, and that it's normal for chickens not to be laying quite yet at 21 weeks. She asked about their crowns getting red and I had to tell her it's a comb/wattles. Do people really just jump right into hobbies without reading anything at all? I feel so sorry for her animals!

Yes Mother !!!Then block off half the run & gate it.
So when you are home you can open the gate & let the flock in the remaining uncovered section.
When you are gone, keep them in the covered section.
