Water Softener - Potasium Brine

I have an odd question. My water softener discharges into a ditch that can contain standing or sometimes flowing water depending on the season. The chickens like foraging along it and sometimes drinking the water. I use potassium chloride instead of sodium chloride. It doesn't seem to hurt the frogs, tadpoles, or anything that takes up residence in the ditch, but I haven't yet made up my mind whether to be concerned with the chickens potentially drinking water with high levels of potassium. Thoughts??

Thanks. Apparently some potasium supplemention can be good. I know to much can be toxic in humans. Hopefully the brine dilutes enough during the dry season. I'm sure it's fine when the ditch otherwise has standing water.
