We need your help-Got another letter from the town

I hear you, same with me, had me stumped. If you can find out more from the city that would be good, but I would let a lawyer handle it so you dont even have to talk to the city, then you wont say anything you will regret later.

I'm sorry to hear about this, but at least you have several other members going through the very same thing. Start contacting people and asking what they are doing and how. Alex in Sanford, NC(alexcritter) and another one in NC. I can't recall them all off the top of my head, but do some research and start talking to people who have already fought this.

I'm going to start a thread in "Everything Else Chickens" and see if we can get a list going of people who have already dealt with this.

Luckily no one has come to our house yet. Do you think if we put up DO NOT TRESPASS signs that would legally make them unable to go on our property? We are prepared to move the chickens so they are unseen, you can barley see them from the road, but next week at the coop party we hope to have it finished, so then if they come, they can see all the breeds seperated, and that they're penned up, etc.

PC just to let you know we are still willing to take/watch any chickens for you, so don't worry about that. I'd love those blue/splash orpingtons

We are getting a lawyer, and if we have to go to court it would be mean so much to us if you, your family, and the other CT BYCer's will come and support us. If we do loose we'll probably end up moving, want to by a huge farm out of state with us

* Sad that we need attorneys for everything today-- but, at least consults are often free (Ask FIRST) and can yield a lot of helpful info. Our RE agent (former city councilman) said, "It's all in what you call it." Meaning you need to call them something other than 'just' chickens. (He got a rehab zoned by calling it an orphanage--which it once was, 3O yrs. before.) I would call them endangered. Sounds like they are to me. . .

I'm thinking of making a petition, I know there are tons of people that will sign it, and I can leave it at my local feed store. Anyone know how many sigs. are required?

Well, the police are NICE!

The sherriff deputy who lives behind me said that he missed my chickens and he had no problemo with them what so ever. The other police stay away from here as long as I dont get any more complaints.
I am just keeping a low profile , looking for a place, and keeping my yard emaculate. I just do not have it in me for a fight with the city. I have 2 cochin bantams who are so so quiet, I let them out and they just roam around the yard all day not hardly making a peep. And I have a few hens in the coop, and a few baby chickens left. No more complaints

But I am no longer happy here, I want to move. It is just a matter of time before I find the right place.
