It can sometimes take a lot of repeating to get their message understood. If it is too bad, I just say that I can't understand anything they are saying and then hang up. I am careful to make sure about anything that I might be agreeing to since it can be very difficult to understand the caller at times.
You really should get a cell phone... You could just text message with everybody.
It's not going to happen. I hate phones. Why would I want one that I would have to carry with me? There is also the issue that if I did have one, I would probably put it down somewhere and never be able to find it again.
I will admit that having a cell phone, even one that will only work with 911 would have been handy when I buried myself.
