its someone who i knew for about 8 years now. we dated a long time ago and thought it would be better just to know eachother more. well after a while we got back toghether and well here we are

We had a chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse filling and white buttercream frosting. Some raised their eyebrows; I didn't care. It wasn't their wedding! We were able to go to one of those bridal expos and taste cakes from different bakers and that's how we chose it. We picked what tasted good to us. As for songs, we're a "bit" older than you. We chose Ben E King's "Stand By Me" and it was a classic even back then!

We sent in for free invites to a wedding expo but no tickets came in. I am going to order some wedding catalogues and we may order from there

I think mine went so well because I was in total control. I made my flowers, the favors, my mom made the cake, i made the invites and the bulletins for the wedding. Dh proposed on my birthday in March, and we were married July 31st that same year. We had the wedding in my mom and dad's side yard on the farm.... I loved it. (96 degrees and no shade too!)

I know it's expensive -- but get someone to shoot a video of your wedding

#1 -- anyone who can't come -- you can show them the video later on

#2 - you yourselves will be in kind of a trance, that way you can watch the video and fully enjoy (later) what you didn't see or realize at the time

pictures are great, but a video puts you *right there* especially if something particularly special happens

cake_ I second the idea of having several different flavors -- more in the fillings than in the cake itself (I'd have lemon as well as the suggested strawberry)-- BUT there may be people there who are on "sugar restriction" -- many are these days and they might not advertise it -- so I'd suggest also an angel food cake with fruit instead of frosting, for those who "eat light" ... or as was also suggested, shortcake ...

and have sugar-substitute for coffee or tea; or use Crystal Light mix instead of (or as well as) sugary lemonade or punch

the less you "fuss", the more fun people seem to have

one song that is lovely, perhaps not your style, is "I Honestly Love You"

another is "(Your Love's Put Me on) The Top of the World"

Hi inuya! Since I haven't had a wedding yet, I can't really help you with the actual wedding stuff, but I just wanted to say congratulations. I hope that you two have a wonderful life together!

oh, your comment reminded me of another idea we thought was neat... we got a frame and matte for a wedding photo, deliberately chose one with a biiiig wiiiide off-white matte, and at the reception we had everyone sign it (some just wrote names, others wrote little good-luck typr messages). Since we ended up with some blank areas left on it, after the honeymoon I glued on some little wedding souvenirs -- part of the receipt from the rings, some of the fake flowes I had on a thingie in my hair, an announcement in a provincial horsemens' newsletter, etc. And of course put a wedding pic in the frame. I like it much better than if it wre just the photo.

Oh, and I pressed the flowers (from the cake, I didn't have a bouquet, and some picked on our honeymoon) in an old phone book til they were dried, then glued them onto a piece of paper to make a framed picture, that is a nice memento too if you like that sort of craftsy thing.

I would recommend STAYING AWAY from wedding expos and any products or services labelled 'wedding', if you can possibly bring yourself to do it, as there is an automatic 500% markup any time the 'W' word is mentioned ;> Stupid waste of good money that could be spent on something with more lasting value (like houses or chickens or savings), if you ask me

Oi never told her about my hatching obbsession. I will wait on that lol
