Weird egg? Weird clump = "LASH" (GRAPHIC Pics)

Sometimes chickens seem so simple and other times very complicated. I have just observed worms in the droppings--now that is disgusting. I am thinking the egglaying and lash issues may be related to the worms. I am also giving fewer treats.

You may want to explore the different ways to worm your chickens. Some use eprinex(ivermectin) or other commercial wormers or you can check out the more "natural" types of wormers such as DE or herbal extracts........

Soooo, now we know! (LOL) I saw this one time in my coop and grossed completely out. I thought it was an egg that developed inside out. I agree that it is nice to have something to call it. I particularly liked the toughest chick award, THAT was funny. I am new to posting, been reading here for years, and seem to have gone on a posting spree this morning. Guess it was time to reach out to others that won't think I'm a freak like all my neighbors.

Cool, but still definitely, gross. I hope I don't ever see another one up close and personal.

Can you imagine laying that??!!

We've had 2 really strange eggs, one "egg in a bag" like the link from the first page. It was thin skin like the inside of the shell, then slimy egg-white like substance, then a real soft shell with a yolk in it. Obviously a first egg. Our second strange one was the "egg in an egg" where the yolk had its own shell inside the egg....very weird happenings, but it happens all the time with first and last eggs(from what I have been told).

My girls all went through that "awkward egg" stage and now are laying full beautiful brown and blue eggs(we have one greenish layer). I honestly do not know who lays what, we have too many to keep up with that.

It looks like what you would get if pigs laid eggs. I have seen a few pics of these "things" and most of them look like they are filled with ham...which makes me instantly imagine a small pig laying a ham egg.

These things to me just look like malformed eggs - comparable to a miscarriage - they're expelled because they are not normal and cannot continue to develop into a normal egg. They seem to consist of various chick body parts in various stages of development, with shells that are also malformed if formed at all. Basically a chicken miscarriage.

Here's my contribution to this thread. My POL girl has been down for a week. I believe I have mericks in my flock and was not expecting her to lay before she died and I sent her off to be tested. However, she is doing better, walking more eating more (except this morning) This is what she laid in her dog crate last night. The yolk was a normal yolk and larger than I expected for her first egg. There was no white, but there was a covering of white over the whole yolk. The leash was almost grisly feeling. the little knob on the end felt like it had something in it as well. When I cut it open, the covering was flesh like, but there was a yolk on the inside a small perfect yolk.
