Dressing up your chickens....a town near us has a yearly chicken pageant, which I always wanted to enter, but didn't want to put any chicken thru the stress of taking it there. However, BYC has had a couple of dress up your chicken contests. I hope they do another!

She looks just like my Najika:

She's the one on the right. I think that her comb has gotten even larger since I took this picture a few months ago... I'll try to get another picture later.
Oh, and her spurs. They're huge.

I've thought of making tiny little nurse's caps for my chickens before... I've never gotten around to doing it, though.

I don't think humans have the ability to acquire immunity that quickly. Even bacteria take more than one generation to become resistant.
Have you known someone who was allergic to poison ivy, had infections a few times and then it no longer affected them? Luckily, I was born non-allergic to poison ivy.
I've raised bees for several years. However, the more I get stung, the more allergic I get.

That and the issue of bio-security. I won't take my birds to shows due to bio-security(on top of the fact they are not in the APA. When I do go to a show, I wear shoes I don't wear at home and I strip off all my clothes when I get home and they go into the wash.

I used to get itchy from poison ivy, became immune to it. I used to also be allergic to chickens, still am but my body quickly handles with it before I notice, thats how it goes. My father told be it is because the immune system learns.
