Weird things only poultry people get.

I'm really struggling with how many people want to hug their chickens. Y'all BYC people sure are different. I've always been a farmer. we don't hug or kiss chickens.

We hold the chickens (4yo included) for easy handling. I got chickens originally because of my fear of birds. I discouraged kissing because eyes . I have had 2 hens squat for me and they're definate favourites, I like to pick up without flapping. Bugs me a lot.

Watch out for the wing talons and the strong painful wings. It can be painful to get hurt by them.

You are awesome. I just ran my 7 to through "Rosie, Aloicius and Violet are roosters. We can't keep them all" 5-11 week chicks. She gets it. It's farming, we make sacrifices so our food is quality and has a good life while it's here

Our old roo was a jerk. Kept jumping at the kids and finally me when I was banding "his" hen my minimally verbal 3 yo refers to him now as "uh, uh, freezer) Chicken clicks, freezer. He also says uh, uh meat

Well just to annoy you FURTHER.
I ALWAYS hug & kiss my chickens.
I've been warned many times about germs but I've managed 8 years of chicken kissing, and it's never done me any harm yet. Although I get some odd looks from hens if I kiss their roosters. (I do it anyway, just to make them jealous)

I'm not fast enough to evade a peck to my eyeball. Kissing a chicken isn't worth blindness.

I've never been pecked by a grown chicken when I'm cuddling them. Curious pecks on my clothes, occasionally. But never skin. And especially not eyes. I've been pecked in the eye by a chick, a couple of times. Think they mainly missed it though!
Also has anyone noticed that grown chickens NEVER poop on people? They're so smart.
Everyone worries that if they have a chicken on their lap they will poop. They know when not to go.
