Weird things only poultry people get.

The earlobes thing works for the majority of breeds. There are some that don't work, but I'd say 9/10 times.
Nononono.

I hate that. I hate it. I hate it.

It's not scientific. It's like saying long haired dogs are prettier. A lot are, but not all of them.

😤😤

There are plenty of examples of where it doesn't work. CCLB for starters.

I have some customers that buy eggs for their dogs. They won't eat them but will feed them to their dogs and go to the grocery store for eggs to eat.
Even my own sister has done this. For whatever reason she would rather eat store bought eggs and when she does get eggs from me she will feed them to her dogs. I have addressed the issue with her but to no avail. She rarely gets eggs from me anymore. She is probably feeding the dogs the store bought eggs now. She usually buys the 30 packs.

Awhile back a woman came by, a first timer and asked what kind of eggs do I have, I responded chicken eggs. I realize she could have meant any eggs but she came off kind of idiotic. She meant what color were the eggs. Another time a person asked what do I feed my birds and I said chicken feed. Most of these people knew nothing about chickens or any poultry and were driving by and saw my signs and decided to check it out. Some have said they have actually never seen a live chicken.

a lot of people believe taht the color of their feathers equal the color of their eggs:
white feathers=white eggs
brown feathers=brown eggs

same with the earlobe thing:
white earlobes=white eggs
red earlobes=red brown eggs
:welcome :frow My DH has told people also that White feathers=white eggs and that brown feathers=brown eggs. He knows that's not true. My dark Brown Leghorns=white eggs and my Rhode Island Whites=brown eggs. The ear lobes is pretty correct with a few exceptions.

My sister is just like that, too😂
We had chickens when we were kids and she refused to eat the eggs. She only ate the ones from the store and now forty years later it’s still the same!😊

I was at a bird show and was with my quail at the table when some one walked by and said, "Oh my gosh! it's a baby chicken!" (keep in mind this quail was fully grown.)
I corrected them and said that it was a quail, and they said, "What's a quail?"
Little off-topic, but reminds me of a time I was at a local nature park walking on a fairly populated path, a woman was behind me with her two small children, she pointed to a small dog jumping across the grass and said “Look kids, a squirrel!”😂

Some pretty funny stories.

I hadn't had chickens for forever and got back in them. A guy at work asked why. I told him the benefits. Eggs. Pets you can eat. Fertilizer for garden. Waste food disposers. Etc
He asked how many I had.
8 hens
He called me a dumb a$$ that I wouldn't get any eggs in front of 20 other people.
I asked why he thought that.
He says well you don't have a rooster.
I asked him if his wife needed him around to ovulate?
Blank stare wrapping his head around the concept.
Several chuckles from guys and a couple comments pointing out who was the real dumb a$$. Lol
