Thank you very much for the kudos @Mimi13 - Yes it seems that many of my ducks do have a built-in vacuum and Blanca duck (the large white one) has a powerful shop-vac inside. That girl can eat! She was the only duck that did not have any stomach problems after the grasshopper incident this year and she is alway hungry.
For being »duck dumb« - you are clearly not! Curious minds are definitely not dumb, equally true for human and non-human minds!
The duck with the orange legs and the upright stand is my drake »Limpy«, a Fawn and White Indian Runner. He most likely had a botulism infection last year that left him with a limp on his right leg but, being a fighter he is still performing all his drake duties.
For the bright orange legs: I started to feed my ducks red cabbage each evening to improve the color of the egg yolks (it works!) and he is a big fan of it. As drakes don't lay eggs, all those carotenoids have ended up in his bill and his legs, causing this bright color. Some other ducks got those too.
Oh my, I just finished the grasshopper thread. Who in the world knew? I haven’t read all of the Botulsim thread yet. I’ve gotta get up and get busy. I’ve loafed for too long already.

And thank you for the orange leg info. I think his legs are gorgeous and I’m sure the girls’ egg yolks are too.

I certainly hope Limpy continues to improve, but I’m sure as long as his girlfriend abilities can still be performed he doesn’t care about his limp.

Oh lord, bite your tongue. We’ll get a foot or more now. :lau:lau

Just kidding. It does snow here (at such random times) and usually creates such chaos.
Reminds me of Houston: People in southwest Texas are so scared about snow on the road they instantly forget how to drive, so one day, years ago everybody was driving ever so careful and slow on I-10 because of the »snow«. - Which in fact was tiny spheres of styrofoam that a truck had lost! It was so funny!

Yes, one can get stuck here waaayyy too looong! ;)
I stumble upon that red cabbage by coincidence when the local Kroger ran out of cabbage. All they had was red cabbage and it was even cheaper than the green one. The ducks first looked very sceptical at those devilish purple leave shreds and refused to eat this. Until Nona Duck finally gave it a try and quacked joyfully, telling everybody »Hey gal's that stuff is tasty!« - leading to the usual evening Piranha-like feeding frenzy…
I'm planning to grow red cabbage and red kale next year!

I also had a Pea Riot in the brooder.

20191121_103215.jpg We said we want peas. Be afraid, we will be out soon and we know where you live.
