There can only be a chick if there is a fertile egg, which requires a rooster. She can't still be laying fertile eggs after being without a roo for 7 months. What turns into the chick is the Germinal Disc (also a blastoderm if it is fertile, it turns into a embryo with incubation and feeds on the yolk), which is on the outside of the yolk. You can see it, and if it looks like a bullseye its fertile. If its just a little white dot its not.But she hasn’t been around roosters for like 7 months?
