Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

My friend has a Pekin that hatches out ducklings regularly.
I’m kinda hoping my Pekin will be a good momma. She has a nest with 10 eggs in it right now. She is always sitting on it when I let them out in the morning. But she gets right up and heads out with the others. I don’t know why, but I really like Pekins. She’s only around 8 mo old though.

Yeah, I meant to enter it too.

I just figured out where to find the total post numbers. I miss the stats from the old format.

Thank you. .. life lesson... still figuring out what that is. Making me re examine a bunch of things. I may not know till its all over or the next path presents its self.

 WHAT? We'll have to pressure her to post pics now won't we?:D
Good morning everyone!!! It’s a beautiful day here in the Midwest! I have a lot of things I want to do outside today.

Part of me has a dimmer view on the day. I was planning on going to my 8yr old cousins funeral today. She had an immune disease where her artery to her lungs were under really high pressure. She got a regular cold the other day which aggravated things. Her Mom was headed to Colorado to her specialist when she had a seizure and ruptured the artery. It makes me so sick when little babies are taken too early. But my son was brought back to me in the middle of the night sick. So now I can’t go. I am heartbroken for them. I guess I get to snuggle my children a little extra tight today and pray for them from a distance.
So sorry for your family's loss Jana!:hugs
Snuggle your babies and pray! I will pray too...:hugs:hugs:hugs
I got some cool news....
I was reunited with an old friend yesterday....
I was in the Air Force with him.
He lives the next town over.... Ran into him at fish fry last night.
Anyways..... His SIL and his daughter are my wife's bosses..... And I used to be his SIL baseball coach.
But all those years Mark and I never really crossed paths..... He went to work for the air port fueling aircraft and I became a mechanic.
...... But anyways her just retired too.... So he has time to go fishing!!!!!!! We are going to Munising on Tuesday.... I'm gonna teach him how to Ice fish for smelt and coho.
That's awesome Phil! :clap
Hey, howd you get a pic of my bunch?
:lau:gig

Full day (I'm not quite sure why I feel the need to post my to do list here, but maybe i need accountability to get 'er done!)
1. As always: chicken chores
2. Run
3. Process 6 cockerels
4. Get music all together for church
7. Move the broodies to better accomodations
Whew. Better get crackin'
Check back late and we'll check off the list and see how ya did!:pop
3 more have hatched this morning, including the only one I set from my Splash/Frizzle cochin pen. Gorgeous chick!
Pips in all but 3 eggs. :yesss:

Not had either of those breeds but my Black Swedish hatched 2 sets. She was a great momma! I sold her with ducklings last fall, so I could whittle down to just Call ducks.
:celebrate :fl
Yeah, I meant to enter it too.
I haven't ever entered anything. :idunno

Good morning Pond Peeps :frow
Got up at 3 with a nasty headache, took some meds and went back to bed. Overslept but the headache is gone!:celebrate
It's beautiful out today, a bit chilly but not bad. Hope to get breeder pens situated today! :fl

Has anyone here had cayugas or Pekins successfully hatch out ducklings? I have an incubator but letting the ducks do it is much easier I think. This is my first year with them. I’ve never owned poultry before. I lived in the city growing up and my husband has lived on a farm his whole life. So it’s really fun new experiences, but I don’t really know a lot yet.

I've got a pekin that broods every year. It's unusual for the breed, but it does happen. And I think my neighbor's duck that had a brood last year that was always over eating my food was a khaki campbell, I'l have to check the pictures and see.
