Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Surf wars! The hammerheads seem to be the ones on the boards!
They surf here too... But mostly in the fall and early winter. But they aren't out there in shorts.... They wear some type of wet suit.
I'm actually shocked at how many people do it.... But then again Marquette is a college town.

Yeah I used to be a pre diabetic...... And I can't breathe when I tie my shoes..... Pass me a marshmallow peeps please.....

You sound like one of my best friends. Aortic valve leakage, stents in arteries to his heart, one carotid 80% blocked. Doctors are 'shuffling' his medications, and his blood sugar is dangerously high. So what does he do at the field trial yesterday - double serving of potato salad and then double sized piece of cake for dessert. He really pissed me off. If he's not going to take care of himself, I'm not going to worry.

@LittleLakePhil, as for tomorrow. Apprehension is normal. We're all a little concerned for you, but predict a major success and recovery. :hugs

Usually the water is around 53 degrees in the winter and warms up to 59 in the summer... Dont take long to get chilled through. So Wetsuits are a must...

Lot colder than the Atlantic...

I have a ton of stuff to do as well.... My surgery is in the morning..... Starting to get scared.... It's not like I've never had any medical things done before..... But can't help thinking....

Best of luck tomorrow. I hope you will let us know how it goes as soon as you can. You know we will all be pulling for the best possible outcome. :hugs :fl

Relax...a friend just had a hip replacement 2-3 weeks ago; doc says he could be playing softball again by June or July

Okay I give...AL how do you fast for 40 days.... What can you eat?
I was wondering the same thing...

Like Sour said, apprehension is to be expected. When I had my first hip done, the Dr. said, you’ll wake up and the pain will be gone. Not exactly. The hip pain was gone, but was replaced by the surgical pain. I wasn’t prepared for that. The second time I knew what to expect. I was able to use my hip “as tolerated” the second time around. Recovery went much better that time. If Physical Therapy is offered, do it.

I'm worried...
When I had my tiny little hernia operation I started hyperventilating!

Such panic! In hindsight I wish I had written in sharpie on my belly, hernia here, (with arrow) do not remove any organs. :idunno

But I have issues.

Okay I give...AL how do you fast for 40 days.... What can you eat?

The full fast (we don't follow the full fast  ) is no meat, no fish, no dairy, no eggs, no olive oil, no alcohol. And since the fast before Easter is a huge important one, there are some days where you aren't supposed to eat until after 3pm, and small portion sizes etc. No snacking.

But there are allowances made for medical stuff etc, etc. My brother-in-law, a priest, is eating 2 chicken livers every day. He is the one whose insides almost exploded from an intestinal blockage.... his iron was super low and he has to get it back up before he starts chemo.

Why not?
Do you think people would get offended?
It kinda blows me away as to what people think offends them these days.
Not sure how we can survive as a society the way we carry on about our feelings.... The Russians and the Chinese are gonna stomp us weaklings to the ground some day.....

I agree.

Heck I was thinking that that probably was the safest place to be standing.... As long as Superman has not had to much to drink today

:lau What a mental picture!

After you're all rested up, Sour, could I ask a huge favor? Could you please send some of your broody magic to my coops?

Uh oh! Everybody duck!

I agree & now I'm curious.:pop I assume it was like 3 days & 3 nights of hell on earth, but its been about 20 lifetimes since I've been to Sunday school, so I don't know.

Good luck tomorrow buddy :hugs We're all pulling for you! :hugs
