The smaller one is naturally polled and has been bottle fed since birth. The bigger one has been with him mom until a couple days ago. He was not dis-budded. I’m not sure how late that can be done, they are both 3 weeks old. I was thinking no horns would be easier, but since these are so little, Lisa (@Fields Mountain Farm) said it should be ok.

Oh really. You all are going to have to help me, as this is my first adventure with goats. Feel free to share any info, I may or may not know about!



Not yet, only working about 30 hours a week, at most.

Hubby may not be able to use the home office for a bit.

Well maybe I need to ask the boys which way they found to be easier!

i will check out videos on both ways. I’ve watched some on banding. I’m not sure I could do the slicing.

the lady I got them from raises them for show also. She said the ones she neuters, she does at 3 months. I just figured banding would be easier on ME, but I will definitely research methods.
My cat that got neutered a couple weeks ago still has a small-ish sack, so maybe it’s similar.

There are so many different opinions . If your going to keep them as pets then wait three to four months. That gives the urinary tract time to fully develop.meat anytime you want.castration band or clamp all have thier benafits.Casteration is the cheapest .good sharp knife. Banding tool and bands ,good tool the bigger the nut the better the tool. And Brdzzo clamps are at least $100 .
Hot weather banding and casteration infection and fly blows can kill .Have to stay on top of that .You can clamp anytime up to a year with no problems.Kids have tender skin so clamping when they are very young sometimes tears the skin and you end up banding anyway.My daddy castrated everything and either applied used motor oil or pine tar.And it was whenever he felt like it.And we can't leave out my many old timer friends who swore by the signs .Castrate when in the feet or in the knees going to the feet .Pop quiz how knows what that means?

Leo the heart.gemini arms.Canacer is the breast.Scorpio secerets. Virgo bowls. Sagittarius thighs .Aquarius legs .Capricorn knees .Pisces feet.Libra reins.So you see Libra and Scorpio are the two that are not actually body parts.Although we have secerts and are guided by riens of sorts.You have all seen this or one like it .It is a zodic calendar.
