Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Sweet! What's your plan for them?

Well since I bought them with my own money (which I myself earned) I'd like to keep at least 4, my mom has been wanting guineas for awhile and since they're pretty much self sufficient I don't think it'll be hard to win her over (she did say she hoped they hatched) The others I'll probably sell, grown guineas go for about $9 to $12 (and that's when there's about 50 of them) at the sale barn so I think keets would sell well.

Sounds like a good plan. What about the Delaware eggs?

I've recently lost 3 golden comets, to predators we presume, so I need to replace my free-rangers.

Who has recommendations on best free-range, self sufficient birds?

:D

I want to keep the Delaware's, an old friend of my dads has some he got as day olds about 4 or 5 years ago (could be longer) and when they started laying he was swamped in eggs, he's currently getting half as many eggs as he has birds which ain't bad for birds that age in late winter and is way better than the 2 eggs a day I was getting from my year olds, so I want chicks from those :p

Well I'm torn currently. I want to order some goslings from Sandhill to add to my Roman Tufted flock since they should be better quality, but I also want a particular breed of chick they have. You can't mix and match and I can't afford to place two orders with them and meet the minimum numbers for shipping.

Getting the chicks would be cheaper, but I really do want those goslings. The goslings are more expensive, but I already have their set up. I'd have to build a new coop if I went with the chicks so they would cost me more in the long run. However, I do already have the geese, and I don't have this breed of chicken and would like to have them. But, I would have no use for the other assorted 18 chicks I'd have to buy so I'd be spending money on birds I don't really want and would have to hope I could sell them off.

I can't decide, darn it! And I want to mail my order out tomorrow whichever way I decide.

my Easter eggers free range the best. I've got roosters and hens that have been outside for four and five years with no issues and very little predation. I do not set out feed or water for them they have been one hundred percent self-sufficient. Of course I have lots of woods lots of grass and a creek on my property. The Swedish flowers are a close second on free-ranging. They Svart Hona come in third.

Nah, I'm eyeballing the Erminettes. But that begs the question, do I really need another breed that needs a ton of work? The ACs are enough work, lol. Still, they are gorgeous and I'm in love.

Hmmmm, I feel like you want the goslings more.

Didn't you hear, EE's aren't a breed. :gig

But that's interesting. I've got all that on my farm property too, so any of those would work for me. Cept I'd probably not want to free range SHs. Maybe not even the flowers. I should probably just get some mutts.
