Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Tell him to hurry up...then lock him out!
:lau, I'll post a pic when he's done. The building has two big doors, you can open one or both. Works fine but can be a pain and let's alot of heat out in the winter, so he built a wooden door to put into one of the big doors. Gonna be so much better!

:drool Wow we was poor as dirt 9 people in a two room shack sometimes . But momma was a saint we picked blackberries every summer and she made cobbler that was so good :drool We also picked possom grapes and elder berries goose berries mulberries any thing she could make jams or jelly out of . She made cakes and pies fried donuts sprinkled with powered sugar. Sometimes there wasn't much but there was always something . We would also gather walnuts and chestnuts . Some times breakfast was just gravy and biscuits. It could rabbit gravy or mackerel gravy . When the bullfrogs got out and big we would go frogging and have frogs for breakfast. Catch them live keep them in a wet burlap sack clean them early in the morning . They were soooooooo good . You know my childhood wasn't so bad .

I hurt in more places than I can count from some of them crazy things we did as kids.

Yep pick up a pound of dry beans any kind . A couple ham hocks and some jiffy corn muffin mix . A slow cooker will work too. The great ting about beans is you can add anything you want to the pot . With the jiffy mix instead of muffins use a 10 inch iron skillet and you got a very sweet corn bread . :loveYou do realize I'm going to show up on your door steep one day :droolI figure it can't be more than a 110 miles over there :lau

 Is that the voice of experience talking :lau:lau

Jiffy was my moms favorite too, but hubby doesn't like it as well. i don't eat any of it. :sick

Went to the Sussex Co. fair today. The livestock, poultry, small animal barns are spacious, clean and well ventilated. Anything you wanted to eat - it was there, and the midway was a kids delight. Probably a third of the chickens were disqualified either because of wrong breed identification or because they were cross bred. Are there no knowledgeable 4 H club leaders to guide these kids? There was actually a Pyle 'Salmon Faverolle'. He was beautiful, but he was a mutt - to his credit he got a second in the crowing contest.

I was intrigued by 4 chocolate Wyandotte pullets (is there such a variety?) To my eye they had more of a Cornish body type, but they were a rich chocolate color - very pretty birds. There were also 4 Quail Old English pullets that were beautiful.

There's a large horse show in conjunction with this fair, and we watched a bit of the jumping competition. A good day for the Princess and me.

Sounds like fun! And i agree the quail OEGBs are gorgeous!

When you have important "junk", you take the best care of it.
Seriously, he says they are the most comfortable. Like a fancy hotel, they have ballroom.

I may have to make the investment. Antiques need to be preserved.

'Al'askan, Spook, and Me ? Deep inside I want to be like 'K'. Is there any hope for me when I grow up ? When I was drinking, I was known as the Story Teller at my local redneck bar.

I'm missing @Spookwriter too. He's had an inordinate amount of life and loss to deal with lately.

Definitely preserve the antiques. ;)
and you, my friend, are also in a class of your own. :hugs

Yes, Rob took my advice to go with preorders! Awesome! Gonna go order one.

Er, in case anyone in here didn't know, I'm a millennial (as is everyone born between 1980 and 2000; there are 37 year old millennials now). There are bad apples in every generation. That doesn't mean all 80 million of us are bad.

Anyway, sorry I haven't been posting in here too much. My great grandmother died late Tuesday night and I've been feeling a bit subdued. We weren't very close since we didn't see each other a lot, but I'm still sad, of course. She was my last grandparent. We are trying to organize her funeral and burial but my great aunt, one of her daughters, is making things as hard as she possibly can, which is not helping things.

:yesss: On the calendar, :hugs for grandma and difficult family members.

:th

HOW did that start!?!?!?!

 people, true living human people, actually pay that much money for a single underware??

my mind is blown....

I thought prices like that were for the movie star folks

There was 1 year...all of the kids decided to be Indians. Naked Indians running through the forest and living off the land. :lau I worked hard to convince the older ones to wear loin cloths. I wasn't sure if they were going to follow the loin cloth suggestion, so I got them to promise to not let the neighbors see them.

But, we have zero Indian blood.

lame.

Last spring I was driving down the hill (2 lanes total, lots of curves, a few hairpins). right before a hairpin the car in front of me suddenly turned to the left so it was blocking both lanes, then came to a shuddering stop.

The guy driving sat in the car and started using his phone, calling someone.....

I sat there with my jaw on the floor.

Luckily there was no danger of us getting hit.

So, then I get out of the car and walk to the motionless dude and ask him if he could get out and we could push his car to the side so that people could pass. He said he thought the axel had busted because the car could not move, the wheels were locked.

By this point, another young guy, from a car down hill from busted guy comes up. I say, no problem, let's hook a tow rope up and drag it to the side. I am driving a weeny car, as well as uphill, so I ask the downhill guy if he can tow it to the side.

he said... "no, we need to wait for the cops. they have to take care of this"

:he:he

They guy with the busted vehicle said "I called my friend, he knows how to deal with this, he is coming"

 :barnie

I couldn't say anything.

I just got back in my car and u-turned to get out of there.

If that is typical of this day and age, it us a miracle that the power still turns on.

even canned crap can be comfort food.

I have a strong fondness for canned chili.

nope, but that is a great compliment so thanks! And yep, me too. :( @Spookwriter

nope.... read my story above. They would just sit together and call around until they found an older person willing to help them.

I once had the neighbor kids help my kids fix the church driveway. ..... I said they should walk down the road with shovels and fix the potholes.

the other kids asked HOW??

I am impressed! How did you keep the piano from sliding off the roof of the car when you banged into something?

and so you save money! You own one kilt and 3 shirts, I guess they do wear socks... :( But still, not bad!
Well I'm not sure whether to :lau or :hitThis is another really good post . :clap

Duck tape, silly. What else?
I'm old baling wire and hay string  like the kid said who would want to tape a duck

Zip ties too...
They no good metal clothes hangers

Still in this meeting! Supposed to be over at noon. Government makes us watch a bunch of videos. :thmy butt is in a coma.
Is it awake yet ? What I mean is can you shake your bootie :lau

Awesome!!!
Poor DD has to have one pulled, they were opting for a root canal, but she has some over crowding so pulling it will help that. So just waiting to be called back now. She's sitting here reading. She's a bit nervous but not bad!
:hugs

Better not tell him it makes a good flamethrower than.
I use gumout for that :hmm never tried WD 40

Old song from the late 50's I believe went "Snatches oh what can I do, I swear I'll always love you. Or wait, that might have been Patches. Nevermind. :)
Weren't there two songs named Patches ???

Gutter brain. :D

:thumbsup Excellent suggestion!
(the frizzle is leaving this evening, I found a new home for him)

So a little ball room dancing now and again?;) X 2 except for gutter brain . Gutters run to catch basins and which is a might lower. And he catches it all :lau

KETCHUP????!!!!!?!?! :th
That's what I thought :confused::lau

The kid I told that to is an Alaskan kid. Just graduated from high school, has spent the last two summers working first as a set-netter, and this year on a commercial fishing boat. He's also been trying to figure out how to convert used cooking oil to run the 1990 diesel pickup he just bought. (He's been working on that project since our last trip up here two years ago.)He's quite self-sufficient. He liked my words of wisdom and told them to his friends. :) This young man and his friends do give me a bit of hope for our future.
Young person with direction good find :thumbsup

Just got back from the dentist's office.
All is good , I'm beat. They ended up pulling her tooth. She has alot of overcrowding so he felt it was the best option. Give the others some room to shift. She's currently sitting at the table with hubby playing chess.;)
Tough girl :thumbsup

When I was that young vans hadn't been invented
Perhaps Father you remember panel trucks and woody wagons ?

You just got to preserve those antiques they do need to be protected . WV is right you have your on style and we enjoy your writings . But anytime you want lube up the pipes and tell us a few . Life stories are always the best ones :thumbsup

So I let Vixyn out and she decided to full on challenge Hadlee who is 7. That little grandaughter of mine stepped up to plate and did exactly as I've told her and won!!! Goose went and laid down and is now seemingly pouting!
Good girl! Well done!
Have a group of roos in the bachelor pad who've never given me a moment's grief, but today I picked one of them up (he wasn't yelling or making a ruckus) and they all wanted to fight me. I have a couple of them for sale as "docile and respectful" - they must have known and decided to make me a liar. Ah, chicken joy.

They're just like children! lol
Well, have to say the grandson, he's 4 to be fair, isn't quite up to the challenge. It's to a point that my daughter said we could use it to our advantage...He won't get out of his seat if Vixyn is laying on the floor in front of him.:lau:oops:

Whenever possible, make the animals do the discipline. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant! :)
