Do bluejays bother chickens? I have a couple that keep flying over my Seramas!! :(

This is going to be a horrible year for mosquitos and bugs. I'm seeing mosquitos as big as my Serama chicks.

Bluejays are some mean birds. I've read about them dive bombing small chickens and then they get bored and move on...unless they find a meal. Home them bugs don't carry away any of your birbs!

You know I've noticed over the past couple years I don't have to many health issues with my birds (knock on wood).... (i did just knock on wood for reals).... Am I doing something wrong or missing something?

A couple years ago I had a duck with a infection in its eye.... A little ACV in the water and it cleared up.

Granted I only have 7 ducks and 6 chickens.... But an i just getting lucky or is it cuz is so cold that we don't really have any time for these things to set in.?

All my birds seem good and healthy and really happy.... If course I spoil them like crazy not having kids at home the animals all become like kids.

I'm not trying to sound dumb just should I be looking harder for issues?

I've never seen lice or anything?

And I've never wormed my birds should I?

Everyone thinks my chickens are beautiful.... They like the all black look.... Just wondering?

Free range birds tend not to congregate where bloodsucking vermin are, tend to dustbathe more, and are generally reasonably fastidious. But those critters are everywhere, carried by wild birds, and there is no shame in finding them in your flock. My flock is plagued at the moment by scaly leg mites (the two and three year old hens on sale as soup hens). While a shot of Ivermectin would quickly make things right, I still gather their eggs so that's not an option. Vaseline is only marginally effective. I'm about to try permethrin laced Vaseline.

Worming is good for them, but be careful of withdrawal periods.

I think my OEGBs could have scaly leg mites. Was just researching yesterday! I have the type of permethrin that you can spray on clothing, I was just about to look into using it. I did find some garlic concoction yesterday that I considered trying to make also.
