Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

I like about any kind of fish if it's filet out and fried. . we soak our cat fish in ice water and usually chunk it up more like nuggets to take out all the dark "mud vein" is what my family calls it. Corn meal with a touch of flour and whatever seasonings I decide to throw on it. Seasoned salt usually. Deep fry in peanut oil is what I prefer. Probably not too good for ya but it sure is yummy!
I had yummy walleye sandwiches tonight.....

Mustard Greens with Salt pork.... Main course.... corn kake... or hoe cakes...

Corn meal mixed with boiling water stirred till it makes a ball. scoop a spoon full mash it as flat as you can stand it.... very hot. lay in hot Bacon fat till the outside browns up...

Probably one of the cheapest stick to your ribs meals....

comfort food.... Flan....
Because you live so close to the border?

I just think true comfort food is stuff you ate as a kid. Stuff that has lots of good memories around it.

Being in Texas, well, that is close to the border, sort of.... ..

Even though my dad''s mom (born and raised in Texas, 5th generation of pure German descent ranchers ) cooked mostly traditional poor Texas/German food, she firmly believed that the only food for a cold was tamales, and she made excellent ones all from scratch... But she never once made me flan.

My brother in law grew up eating just cornmeal mush... his family didn't even have enough money for pig, and could only afford a tiny bit of salt.

So... just boiling water and cornmeal.
:sick But he grew up eating it, and he STILL loves it. So my sister makes it often. All of her kids have grown to love it. Of course my sister gets to salt to taste. ;)

Haha - I hear ya! We have a local poultry group on FB and someone posted some bare legged BCM pullets for sale. I just wrote "feathered feet?" on a comment and took a barrage of anger. So I posted the SOP link and the administration contacted me and said if I posted any more outside links I would be banned from the group. Not sure what planet I was on at that point. So I politely apologized and removed myself.
There were battles fought over that very issue in the marans breeders association. Egg color is really what most want darker is better . Marans hens are bad feather pickers so most of the time they ain't got none anyway .:lau

Not like you couldn't use a bit more meat on yer bones, eh ;) :lau

:thumbsup

And that's why I leave it for my other half to stir the chit pot up... he loves to do those kinds of things! :lau

Sorry, I ferget...

Only reason I remember which he had is cuz cree doesn't have 55's...
I ain't skinny just thin every where but my belly :lau yes he does don't he . ah what was we talking about

In FBs defense (gulp, I can't believe I just said that) I sell a lot more birds that way than any other. But I do get tired of egos. Shoot y'all, we are chicken farmers. I'm sure there's a power trip in there somewhere, I just haven't found it yet.
And that will be my point to Pyxis . The easiest way to deal with ego is feed it . If someone thinks they are smarter than you let them. Feed them rope and watch them get tangled up in it . When anyone first starts out to something new they are ignorant but soon learn . There are those that have much more knowledge about things that others don't. It is only when they call attention to another's ignorance in a demeaning way that they show their own . Because they lack integrity and are ignorant in the art of tactful communication. Respect before criticism . Kindness before correction . Example the horse messed up so I'll get his attention by beating him with a whip so he won't do it again . And that gets you what ?? If it loves and trust you it will die for you .I'm rambling again ain't I:lau

Nah, the wood stoves going all day n night in the winter, may as well keep a pot of beans on it.lol
Fired up the kitchen stove tonight, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans and cream corn.:drool
And you live where ????? I got dibs on left overs :drool

FB is definitely the easiest/quickest way to get rid of birds for FREE! :lau
Duh Free :lau

Ya think he wears that :lau

See, you're all just reinforcing my decision not to join! I have a personal one that I pretty much never use. I toy with the idea of making a farm page from time to time but then I always end up deciding against it, lol.
You really should make a farm page use all the marketing tools at your disposal that are free . the more your name is know the better .

Um...lemme think......

NO!

:lau

mumu

Honestly, it's a good way to see what's selling, what's popular, what outrageous prices people think they can get, etc. I just try to stick to a few local swap groups. The "national" breed ones don't really do me any good, unless i was looking for hatching eggs, then maybe...
The raffle group is actually pretty neat.
You ain't even got blond roots :lau:hugs:hugs:hugsyou got smarts is what you got :highfive: Now If I can just figure out that fat boy thingie you is talking about that's a Harley right ?:lau

Did you & Ben enjoy your McD's last night? What does he like there?

Great minds think alike. i was snacking on cherry tomatoes dipped in ranch.

Ya'll have a good evening & sleep well. 'Twas a long flockin day. Hope to get some good sleep.
Hope your sleeping :fl Ben eats nuggets and fries every time . He loves chicken . I cheat I buy a premixed tempura batter and fry chicken breast strips in it. He loves it he will eat them till he makes himself sick if I don't watch him . So dinner was fried breast strips pasta shells in a white cheddar sauce from Pasta Roni and Brussels sprouts . He won't eat those . He loves the pasta . It's one of the things we found he likes . It's a chore to feed him and this he will eat every time I cook it . Also it's his lunch tomorrow . He has an appointment Friday with a speech therapist . Michael seems to think they can figure out a way for him to communicate using a Ipod . We've tried that before but he is much older now so here's hopping :fl
