Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

You can keep a drake in with chickens without him mating them, as long as he's happy with his mate :) I have a separate pair that lives with my chickens - a pekin and a WH - and the WH never even thinks about the chickens. He likes his pekin lady. My Call drakes are the same way, I only have pairs right now and they are happy to stick to their duck girlfriends and don't bother the chickens. I think the drakes mating chickens thing is mostly only a problem when there are no female ducks at all, or way more males than females. I've actually never once had a drake try to mate with my chickens.
My ducks , chickens, turkeys and the goose (soon to be all of the geese), are all free ranging together and i dont have any issues.
The ducks of course were grown when i got them but everything else was raised together.
Oh, forgot to mention...

Mozzie finally kidded!! About time!

2 kids, 1 girl, 1 boy. All look good. But sheesh! Mozzie is so short, her newly born kids have to scrunch down to nurse!!!! Glad she managed to birth them!!!
Gongrats! Glad it went well!:love
Pics?:D

Oh that would be a total game changer if I could just get one drake & keep him off the chickens! Do you think you could add just one if it was a drake? I've shied away from adding just one of anything to the flock. Mako was different because we had just lost the last of our hens & the babies were still in the brooder. 'Hope' (brahma) was the only adult bird out there & they were both so lonely they bonded pretty quick.

poultry and birds only....

That's the problem. My kids would give up all their other animals before they gave up their birds. :hit

You should be able to add one drake. If the chickens give him trouble he'll put them in their place real quick and they'll leave him alone. Chances are he'd take well to your duck pretty quickly - drakes like girl ducks, lol.

Ok, changing the subject. Here's a before & after pic per bobbi's request.

I love it! :love

Well thats not good! :barnie
I was curious about him cos of what peeps have stated.

I think he gets alot of credit for his rotation of his animals, and the whole idea behind the process. Cows and goats clear the land, poop, then the chickens spread the poop. There are other steps involved, I think, and I doubt he was the first person rotating like that, but he seems to be a personable guy. I think that's why folks like him.

I never saw him mention geese in any of his videos that I've watched. And I'm sure you do all you can for Vix. How are the little ones doing now? We haven't seen them in a while....hint..hint... ;)

Well, I'm fed & caffeinated. I better get back to work, but this is pretty much how I feel about things today...

Thanks.. :love
They're growing like weeds...;)
Took these last week. If you look in the top left corner, up the hill, you can just barely see Vyx.. he gradually made his way down and said hello. Then he stood right in front of me and watched them play in the water. :love
A few calls came to investigate too.;)
