So I brought home 10 beautiful, active barred rocks yesterday. Have the brooder all set up and ready to go...everyone looks good, eating good, active. Now my question is: I was reading some posts this morning and it was discussed that you do not need to give them grit if they are on starter. I have them on chicken starter but I also put some grit out for them as well. Do they not need it right now (or does it really matter? Am I being too overly cautious?!?!) Oh, I believe they are less than a week old...maybe 4 days old, maybe a little older...

Thanks a bunch...I am sooo excited to finally have some chicks.

they don't need grit if all they are eating is starter, but it won't hurt them to have it as long as it's small enough- most feed stores sell "chick-size" grit.

Thanks...that's what I thought...some of them act interested in the grit and others not so much...as long as it doesn't hurt them I will leave it in...

Thanks again
