Went to throw out egg.....

I have adapted how I decide to help. If I can see the membrane and there seems to be a lot of blood still in the veins(fat veins), then I leave it be, cuz that baby isn't ready yet. If you ever looked at the shell closely of the hatched chicks you will notice only a small amount of blood in the veins(thin, fine lines of blood). I learned the hard way, I helped a chick that was pipped for almost 24 hrs, it wasn't ready(fat veins), it didn't absorb the yolk yet

. I also had a silkie that pipped the air cell but not the shell and it stopped peeping, I pulled to candle and it had died. The other one that was in the bator with it pipped the shell the same time the other one pipped the air cell and made no progress. I peeled away a little shell around the pip and saw the veins were very small so I decided to help a little and it just popped out. My humidity had to not be high enough

. Good luck with whatever you decide

I have chipped a good bit of the shell in front of it's beak away, i can see it's little face and beak. It is breathing very well, It looks as though it was too big to get out of the egg. There was no blood when I opened the egg, I am still deciding whether to open it a little more. The hole we have now is about the size of a quarter.

If you didn't see blood, I think I would try starting to zip the egg, just a bit to see if baby can have a little more room to start working herself out. She sounds like she may be too big to move in the shell.

Just an update. I went in and checked on it and hung up a shop light several feet above the incubator so I could stop shining the little flashlight into the window lol. My humidity is up, it's at about 75% but I figure that is from the hatch taking place. It is doing okay, when I tap on the window it moves it's little beak and chirps, I think perhaps being stuck in the egg took a lot out of it. Hopefully by tonight we will have a new addition. I took some photos too, I will attempt to figure out how to post them, I have never posted photos through a site before.

Okay, I now have to wonder if today's hatch could get any crazier! Now we are under a severe thunderstorm warning and the power keeps flickering. I of course, live in the middle of nowhere so I cannot go to a neighbors with my bator. What do i do about warmth for my little one in the bator hatching if I lose power? THIS IS CRAZYNESS!!! lol
