Went to Wal-Mart...and got Mira! Getting clipped!

As for the chickens...I do not know yet. We are "renting with option" so until we close in November, my birds are staying at a friend's house. Who is just AWESOME for hatching me some more Langshans!

She's started turning from an arrogant bottom to a sweet, semi-calm kitty. She LOVES to cuddle. But she's rough and tumble too. She's up for anything, but rarely leaves the Shih Tzu's side. Vida is her protector. If she feels anything is "off", she'll take off towards the cat and make sure she's ok. I have ruined the dog and the cat...haha!

Mira's job will probably be the be out in the barn either during the day or night to hunt mice. Then, she'll be inside the house. I don't want to let her out as we are very close to the woods. Apparently once you go so far into the woods, you don't come back out...

Thank you all for your compliments! She's stolen my heart!

You said this would be a good test run for kids.... I remember talking to my brother about something baby related when my kids were babies, so much of your life revolves around the Poo, how often are the having itwhat it looks like consitencyhow much of it whats in itwhat diapers hold it in which ones dontwhat to clean it up with...... We had the same conversation again when he had his first.
So you are well on your way!

Sorry, I know this isnt the focus of the thread, but it really cracked me up, nice delivery.
I have to go finish reading the rest of this thread...

Ok finished, loved it!
I have one like her, my husband and some coworkers found her under a pile of discarded rubble, about to be burned, at the railroad yard. They heard her crying and searched until they found her. She was the weight and consitency of a baby bird, all bone and fluff. Now she is a beautiful Maine Coon. Mira is really a beautiful cat, lucky you and lucky her! Mine would attack the bottle growling, clawing and all when I was feeding her, and did the spitting hissing at us during play, it is normal. Ours is about half the size of a normal Coon Cat, she's small for any cat, really. It's because of the lack of nutrition in the first few weeks of life. She is perfectly healthy otherwise. Sometimes I wonder if she knows she's a cat....you will probably have that issue too.

On the other hand when my husband says coolie, get down! in a no nonsense voice, she lays right down, no matter where she is. We were advised to pin her down by her scruff if she gets to rough and agressive, then walk away from her. A behaviorist told us that, she says mama cats are very very rough when diciplining their kittens and sometimes they dont understand you are being serious unless you do something like that. You may not need to, just sharing some advice that worked for us. I am sure you will do a good job, just look how great she is doing!

She is beautiful! Money cats are rare too!

Thank you!! She is a little spitfire! She's still small for her age, from what I've been looking at. I don't know if she'll grow anymore. She's smaller than my Shih Tzu...my Shih Tzu is about 11 lbs with her belly full. Mira, at her checkup, weighed 4.77 lbs.

She's so dainty! She has the "kitty belly"...the kind that older cats get when they're overweight? But, she's far from overweight. Her hair is medium length...SO soft. Almost like a Rex rabbit. She LOVES people.

AND! Today is a mark for her! I took her into the laundry room. She saw the spiders in there and played with them. Of course they ran to the nearest shelter..me. I do NOT like spiders. At all. And these are HUGE! What we in OK call "Wolf Spiders".

I screeched and jumped onto the washer. She looked at me like I was a moron. I got off the washer once all spiders were safely underneath and went into the other part of the basement. There was a HUUUGE spider blocking my exit. Mira jumped out of my arms and saved me! Played with it until it died, including flinging when it decided to "hold" onto her paws. I encouraged her. At the end, she ate it. (Ew, but whatever floats her boat.) She is now running around upstairs like she is Superman.

So proud!

Hopefully she'll use what she's learned and kill more spiders and hopefully mice!
