No it is not. FIP is pretty much silent til the point of death. The runny poo is more than likely due to food. I gave them some kitten replacement formula tonight and they lapped it up!!!

and worms? I'm not a cat lady. Debbi, I feel your pain. This spring I got overrun like what you describe. They went from occasional signs here and there, to BLAM! Insane breeding like "mice and rats" so fast I couldn't keep up with them. I finally said ta heck with decorum and put bait blocks everywhere. I used three brands, Jaguar, Tomcat and Just One Bite and put them in the silverware drawer, the nightstand, the livingroom, in the sofa cushioins, the window sills, behnd the microwave, in the food cabinets, utility closet, inside the oven, on top of the stove covered by a cuttng board, inside the trash cans, behinid the fridge, in the pantry, restroom and the hallway closet. They ate a TON and it took weeks, even months, but they seem to be gone. For a few months cats from all over started to hang around the bushes by my house and the neighbors were wondering why I suddenly had so many cats! It was horribly embarrassing to me, but I did get the problem licked. I sure hope you can to. I've never heard or seen anything like it and hope I never do again. Better to put poison down now before they are mousing. So sorry you are going through this. I had NO IDEA how fast they bred and all what they could chew up! Everything it seems. Hang in there girl. Congrats on the new cats, and get that poison laid down, stat. Put new poison out before the other stuff gets fully eaten. If it is not being eaten in one spot, change it up. Put some in every corner you can think of. You WILL win the battle.

Oh, and Debbi..... we just brought home a new cat too. DH found it on "power outage night", (being a CA resident, I'm sure you know what I mean) its a little Manx kitty. No tail at all!!! Just a cowlick of fur, where a tail would be. The drug addict renters down the road abandoned it. Its been at least a week or two since they left. She was very hungry. Your kittens are very sweet. I hope they grow up to have long healthy lives.

about the dogs eating poisoned mice, no, not unless they gorged on them. I have toy and mini poodles and believe me, they found and ate their share, I'm sure. No one got sick, no neighbor cats did either. I took the mice away from the dogs any time I found them, but just by numbers and averages, they had access plenty during the day while I was gone to work. If you have large dogs I wouldn't worry. Bait blocks themselves, different story. I think if mine found one and ate it they would die. I pushed them far under stuff where they couldn't reach. The ones I put in the seat cushions i put a piece of plywood over it so the dogs couldn't reach it. I also dressed up the dog's dry food with wet, and chopped boiled eggs so they would pig out on that and not so much the mice.

We are going to worm them today and see if that helps. Poor little things!!! They sure are bouncing around now though. Good grief, they are into everything!!!! A good sign for sure.

So I am jumping in here late but have some thoughts.

Kittens may hunt better if they have a momma kitty to teach them, but trust me natural instincts will kick in and they will learn to hunt.

From my experience Calico's make excellent hunters. My best mousers have been calico's. Any anyone who has mouse problems around here, I send them home with a calico and their problems are solved. Now there is no study done to prove my opinion but just thought it would be encouraging for you to know since one of your itty bitty kitty's looks calico.

To help with runny poops give them a teaspoon of raw pumpkin a day and it will help them greatly, pumpkin also works well as a natural dewormer. Just make sure that you get a can of raw pumpkin and not pumpkin pie filling.

I think you will do fine with your kitty's as long as you cleaned everything well they have a better chance then it sounds like they would have had with the other guy.

Also if you put peanut butter in the bottom of a garbage can it drives the mice crazy and they will jump in and can get out.

I hope it all works out for you. Living on a farm that was once infested I can totally feel your pain!!
